Honestly we seem to have the ability to “play down” to lesser pitching and gear up to stronger pitching. I’ve seen a lot of clubs struggle with this. When I was coaching pitchers at Chipola we could make the arms at George Wallace in Dothan look like Smoltz and Maddux and play up vs our conference opponents.

It makes two things happen—you get in the basic word group and your beer bill goes up…

We seem to be overly aggressive - not running his pitch count up. He's somehow making his pitches look hittable and yet with enough movement that we're not making solid contact.

I wonder how many first pitch swings we have seen so far. Neither team seems interested to test the bullpen.
