Baseball Picked Seventh in Big South Preseason Polls2023 SCHEDULECHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Big South released the preseason polls and honors on Tuesday, and the Charleston Southern baseball team was picked to finish seventh in the conference. They received one first place vote and received 44 points overall in the process.

The Bucs managed to pull out 24 wins last season, including a 13-11 record in the conference. Unfortunately, they came up one-game short of winning a Big South title and clinching a spot in the NCAA Regionals. Under the direction of MacMillan, who will begin his third year at CSU, the Bucs look to build off of their success from a year ago.

 

I had a feeling Sproat would remain our Friday night guy. I doubt the new guy cares, so there's no need to upset the applecart.

I'll pray

I'll pray for you. I agree baseball is good for the soul but...

 

Back when I was a sophomore at UF ('73-'74) I would occasionally car pool back and forth to my hometown (NSB) with fellow NSB Gators.

One such fellow - a good friend and classmate from NSB High was Jim Gallay.

Tall and lanky with a 'fro' hairstyle. Very amiable personality - if not a bit quirky at times - which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

He loved his music (as did we all!) and his fav. band was "The Beatles".

He also loved baseball - and I will never forget that baseball cap he wore with a baseball on the front of it with a bite taken out of it - as in an apple with a bite taken out of it - and the words "I Love Baseball".

Now that was a ball cap......

 

Not many starting fielders return for CSU and look for lots of right hand hitters from them this weekend. Only one LLH (Assman from FSU) returns in only 14 starts. The other 3 LHH are new to the team.

 

???Correction, their website for 2022 says they were 24-30 overall.

 

I will be on travel and miss the entire opening weekend. Family stuff.

I will read the game threads when I can.
