I did some digging on who Auburn is likely to use on Sunday after crossing out anyone who pitched 30+ pitches in the first two games. I know any coach can stress an arm if they choose but here's the likeliest.

    Vail - LHP - 3.57 ERA - 22.2 IP - starting pitcher
    Gonzalez - RHP - 0.00 - 5.0
    Murphy - RHP - 4.26 - 6.1
    Carlson - RHP - 5.14 - 7.0 (26 TP Saturday night) - unlikely
    Allsup - RHP - 6.48 - 16.2
Horne - RHP - 6.75 - 6.2 (hhmmm name sounds familiar, hard to place it)
    Isbell - RHP - 7.31 - 16.0 (23 TP Friday night) - likely
    Copeland - LHP - 8.82 - 16.1

My point in all this is we need to run up the pitch count on Vail because they will more likely go with guys like Allsup, Copeland, and Isbell with more experience but higher ERAs than Gonzalez and Murphy who neither has pitched in an SEC game this year. Yes its a strategy to be patient and may limit our runs early but we increase our chances of scoring plenty more runs late in the game.

Currently the Gators are batting .283 in conference and Auburn is batting .232.
Pitching the Gators have a 5.13 ERA and Auburn has a 7.43.
Cags has to keep it close until the cavalry arrives late to take the series win.

On the other hand the Gators have available to pitch...
Caglianone to start, with Abner, Fisher, Arroyo, and Slater.
There's a few other arms depending on the situation but if all goes well, my guess Sully will stay within these choices. Wind blowing out to right should favor both teams that start LHP but we have better LHP in relief. Auburn has lots of RHP in relief that guys like Cags, Riopelle, and Robertson should do well against. The sooner we wear out their starter, the sooner we take the advantage.

  5. Not sure how how anyone can feel "comfortable" with Cags after last Sunday but just need him to go and see how it is from there. Was impressed by Arroyo last weekend assume he's the first option for long relief then go from there. Essentially without Neely available there are chances for other guys, feels like Cade Fisher's been waiting to duplicate that Miami outing and get used to SEC bats every pitch.

Hoping Cags can give us 5 solid innings and that the bats stay hot. Abner, Slater, Fisher, Arroyo are fresh so that quartet should be able to take us home- although Auburn is RHH heavy- so perhaps Purnell for an innning or situational.
Not sure why Tejeda has seen no action in a month- unless Sully is going to give him the nod vs BC on Tuesday. It's a short week as Vols series starts Thursday so win the series today and give the less often used guys some work Tuesday. Vols at Rocky Top will be a huge test.
But task at hand first- beat Auburn and win the series!

Gonzalez is team 'ace' those 5 innings were opening day..so you wont see him. Tommy Sheehan, the #2, also unavailable

My guess is Allsup will be first out of pen, biggest arm on team (98-100). Isbell is closer for weekend, so he wouldnt be until backend most likely. Other than that Butch will just pull names from a hat & see what happens.

I think that's exactly it for Tejeda getting the start on Tuesday against BC. Glad Nesbitt did so well Friday but my guess he was a key pitcher for this weekend before Sproat had his issues.

I bet..lol Only 1 Sunday win this year for a reason. Ive suggested just bringing a tee to plate, instead of using a pitcher.
