Witmer leaving is not a surprise but I thought Satin had a chance to develop. Kind of a funky LH delivery and was hoping he could be a solid lefty option out of the bullpen. But like almost every other FR pitcher we brought in, Satin struggled with command and walked too many batters. It will be interesting to see how it works out at his next stop.

You have to remember that NIL money is also now being used to offset scholarship limits.

Pierce out at Texas. They are going to make a big splash with new hire. Dominos will fall and more kids moving.

Who really qualifies as a big splash besides Vitello?

Link would, but I don't think he's leaving. Mingione doesn't have enough of a track record. Unless they go for a veteran established name like Schloss or Van Horn or someone like that.

    Maybe Bakich? Scott Forbes?

Sully would be a White Whale level of catch. This is where "fans" that come and go depending on how the team is doing are different than "baseball fans". I think (based on what the numbers show) we have more of the former. Florida baseball is the top of the heap for Alachua county if you want to enjoy baseball at any level but Gainesville's population to draw "baseball fans" is 1/6th Austin's and the UTx venue is only slightly larger than Condren. Gainesville is a great little town, but it ain't Austin.

As much as I love Sully, I have no DOUBT he will get called and he will listen.

Thank goodness, in many ways. Also, Sully has already turned them down once. I doubt he makes that move at this point in his career.

Oh, in that we agree completely. Austin is up there with a few other pretentious, over-priced, over-legislated pockets of nonsense.

If you want Gainesville, you avoid it. But if you want "not Gainesville", you go think about it.

Our bias in this situation causes us to fail to consider this from a business perspective, I fear.

He gets back-channeled called pretty much every year and yet he is still here. He will use this to get a raise. That is the only reason he might “listen”.

They are targeting the two coaches from tonight’s Championship and one mystery guy. They want a big name for sure.

TA&M has never won an NC in the 3 major sports, at least that is what my Aggie friend told me.

In its defense, the article highlights that fact.

Brookins, Gomberg and Philpott likely staying

The good news is that Brookins, Gomberg and Philpott will all likely stay with Florida. The portal movement is necessary as it allows the Gators to make scholarship changes, but they are all part of the plan for next year, according to sources close to the program.”

Agree with you Sting. Without listing all of the obvious reasons why I don’t think Sully would leave I have a personal one I think is important. Sully’s young son has been a part of this team since he was a toddler and the baseball team is like part of his family. Don’t see Sully even contemplating breaking that up.

I have no doubt he isn't in their top 3. No doubt.

You'd be wrong. I do not like Austin. Full stop. Period. Been there often enough to know it's not my kind of town. Parts are OK...the Driskill is a national treasure, but it's a pretentious post-modern hellscape to an old fogey like me, who spent time in Austin in the 90s, back when it was the kind of town I'd have wanted to live in.
That being said, I'm an old fogey and accept that not all view the world the way I do and concede that, assuming a person wants what Austin has, or is willing to live there, it has a certain allure that Gainesville may lack.

Me? I grew up within a stone's throw of Hogtown Creek...back when everything west of 34th street was "in the country". I'd love to live there, raise a family there. But I ain't everybody. Hope Sully wants his family to live in a place like Gainesville over Austin.
