Looks like Lastres is our first entry into the portal

 

I had a feeling that was coming.

Playing time—or lack there of…

 

I thought Lastres and Prevesk would hit the Portal, possibly Evans, Alvarez and a couple of pitchers- Purnell, Ursitti, Finnvold and... Much depends on the post-season meeting with Sully and the coaches.
I predict Lastres will be an excellent catcher at a top program the next two seasons (UM maybe?) and will get a shot at the next level. What I saw in the scrimmages was very impressive and it's a mystery why he has gotten zero playing time.

 

Heyman is going to be our starter next year. Lastres is a year ahead of Luke and wants to be THE guy somewhere. Can't blame him. Salvy Alvarez is the only other catcher on the current roster and I don't think there's a catcher in the 2023 recruiting class. I imagine O'Sullivan will try to find one in the portal to provide additional backup. I would imagine Tucker Talbott will transfer out as well.

 

Lastres didn’t exactly impress in his very limited opportunities. He looked uncomfortable behind the plate.

Yes, Lastres is one year ahead of Luke but is only 19 yo. TJ surgery last year set him back big time - not playing second half of last year and missing Fall scrimmages but I agree Luke is our number one catcher next year.
With Lastres's talent he's gotta find PT and will at a top program. He was the #1 rated catcher in Florida and #3 overall coming out of HS so the talent is there.
Talbot should have transferred last year or year before so not sure if he wishes to continue his playing career.

 

No surprises here. What worries me are the unexpected ones. This whole portal world keeps talented players looking for greener pastures. Sully sounded very confident in his presser yesterday about where we stand with our current players. Rest assured anyone who leaves has probably been Sully's recommendation as well.

 

He looked really uncomfortable when he tried to recieve a pitch with the family jewels instead of the mitt.

Is he not on the post season roster? Otherwise the timing seems off. Stay with the team and enjoy the postseason ride.

He was dressed and taking pitches during warmups and in between innings if BT wasn’t ready. He was announced with the team too.
