Haven't been here since the start of the game and dont know if it was mentioned but I Just noticed that two G'ville area guys are on the UNF coaching staff. HC Joe Mercandante and hitting coach Tyler Holt (Alachua I think). My kid played with/against Tyler in youth leagues/travel ball. He could hit - later played on SFCC when they went to the WS and came in 2nd (I think).

The Gator bats stayed focused. 8 Gator batters got a hit or more and 7 Gators scored a run or more. The pitchers all did a great job holding them to only 2 hits but getting 14 strikeouts tonight. As a whole Peterson, Jameson, Clemente, and Purnell were sharp and really weren't even threatened by the Ospreys. Now let's keep it going and do it again tomorrow night.

Also important to remember that was 14 hits and 10 runs in only 7 innings. Plus the defense had zero errors because the pitchers only gave up two hits.

Donay is awful. Has no chance against sec pitching. 5 o'clock hitter.

If Donay is in the lineup tomorrow night, I might just have to walk down to the left side of the dugout and have a stare down with Coach Sully. I'm hoping if if doesn't know I'm coming I might have a miracle of a chance. Just maybe...what do you think? HA

Very impressive win. Some experimenting still to be done with the starting lineup. Colby "Blake" Shelton neeeds to relax, Donay needs to feel the bench. But Liam Neeson was awesome in his debut. Let's see what tomorrow night brings.

I made it to the game tonight with three Jax nephews, two are UNF students and their dad a UNF grad. I would have been fine if they had cheered for their school, but they were good Gator boys. We had decent seats in the nice little stadium that was about half Gator fans. Announcer said it was a record, I think he said 2700. I've been there a few times, but this was my first encounter with a major flaw. The concourse runs in front of row 1- like noles' place. In fact, fans seldom walked by during the innings, but groups of UNF staff congregated at each end of the concourse, next to the screen. I can't speak for the 3rd base side, but I never was able to see a play at 1st base, While one was a campus cop who may have had a security assignment, the 2-5 other people there at any given moment seemed only to socialize. Someone blocking my view to watch the game is one thing...

On more pressing issues, this was the Gator performance we wanted. Another home run or two would have been nice, but there were a lot of good cuts, solid pitching and overall strong play. UNF batters didn't look awful, just out performed by Gator pitching. UNF pitching didn't show much. Wednesday might be 7 innings.
