There is a reason why it was scored a single.

It was an incredibly hard play. IMO it was a tougher play than Langford not getting the double and the TCU guy not getting our 9th inning double. That ball was deep in the hole

Managing a bullpen is the hardest thing a head coach has to do. I think that maybe Sully was saving Cade for a possible outing tomorrow if we lost. Pitching staff management is the one thing that is never talked about enough. It isn't just one game at a time but has impacts over a longer time period. It is the stuff that is "in the weeds" but it has huge implications over a season. I wish that somebody who knows the subject would write a book about this. I'd buy it and read it.

And managing a bullpen as an MLB manager is why I don't think that Pete Rose should ever get a "pass" on betting even though he always bet on the Reds to win when he managed them. Trying too hard to win that one game with a big bet could screw up a bullpen for a week or more.

One great advantage of living in GVL long enough to be old and retired is the opportunity to get to fall bsb workouts. After regular drills and BP, they scrimmage, generally 4 to 6 innings. It's a great combination of free baseball and a preview of the new team. From the beginning, it was clear that this team would fill most of the 2022 gaps and that they were deep and skilled. I never hoped they would go unbeaten or bat 1.000, it was reasonable to hope they could get just a few key wins and get to the finals. That has made it easy to be satisfied with one-time wins or come from behind wins. I know Wake and LSU each are capable of sweeping our guys in the final, but I'm certain Gators can sweep, too. Better still, noles, dawgs, scUM, Vandy, SC and 300 other teams and their fans get to watch Gators play for the same sort of trophy golf and track just won.

One thing of note. The last out in the bottom of the 9th inning, 2 outs with a 0-2 count, and we pitch their best hitter a fastball (95mph) right down broadway? Someone needs to talk to Neely about never doing that again.

The best part of this win is that it was a complete team win... all hands on deck win.

Neely is mostly a fastball pitcher that wants to throw low outside edge, low inside edge and elevating one anywhere. If he had perfect control he would be making millions right now. He will make mistakes.

I mean the placement of that pitch was perfect. I wish he'd put that pitch off center.
