The 3 starting pitchers have to go deeper in the game for us to be at our best. We're good on the back end, but it's middle relief that has been inconsistent and really bad at times.

Walk & HBPs are killing us. To a lesser extent, so are strikeouts. Our pitch counts must be among the worst in the country.

Agree. Some middle relief selections puzzling.

Yes, I agree our three weekend guys have to go deeper but apparently they can't- all three are high pitch count guys who always seem to have one or two innings when they lose command and get into serious trouble.
When our hitters fail to get the clutch hit-- and leave bunches of runners stranded in early innings- it seems to not bode well for the outcome.
Even on Friday night, when we scored early and had a nice 4-run cushion, Sproat was unable to last even 6 innings. When your two "aces" can't get through six innings on consecutive nights... well it's not a formula for great success. I'll take great pitching over great hitting any day- as the success of the 2017 NC team attests.

Said perfectly. Striking a guy out is great but overrated when it takes 6-7 pitches as runs pitch count up. We have Middle guys sitting on the bench that is not flashy that has a very very good era that will throw strikes. Now he’s gonna get hit but I’d take that over the free passes and hit batters all day long.
Cags is wild today I’d expect Sully to go to Nesbitt quick and then go Abner, Slater, Neely.

No way do I leave Cags in if he’s walking 2-3 guys in first inning or two. We have to play to win.
