Seems like we have one of these stinkers every weekend that we need to flush and move on.

Great point. Sproat and Cags cants seem to get ahead consistently which drains their pitch counts.

Had high hopes for Nesbitt, especially with him being an older guy, but he has had a rough go of it lately.

He's need to be aggressive with transfers. New age in which you get kids like Waldrep vs relying on unknown Showcase All Americans.

I agree. However to me it's his body language.....it's awful and appears to carry to others.

Even 0-2 didn't help. Nesbitt had their 2 hitter 0-2 and then hit him in the knee...SMHo_O

That's two opening night SEC games in a row where our Pen has been completely ineffectual.... I don't wish to harp on it but Sproat should have been allowed to finish the inning or at minimum face the next batter.
Again- you are without your best man in the Pen; you need to stretch your SPs some. Sproat had found a groove- retiring 7 straight before the chopper past Halter- with two outs and a 3-3 tie in the 6th. Let Sproat get out of the inning. It's not as if we have guys in the Pen who are proven consistent strike throwers What we got was another colossal meltdown on a nationally televised ballgame- the optics for getting a top 8 seed are important- and this game was a flop.

I really do get the sentiment.....but I think we all know that if Sully leaves Sproat and then next guy ropes one it's nothing but "what's wrong with Sully, guy's over 100 pitches, Sully always leaves him one batter too long, etc". Hindsight is always perfect.

Nesbitt is a mid-week guy. He does not have the stuff for SEC comp- perhaps an inning here and there but not when game is on the line. Have thought so all along.

Correct and that was with a freaking change up.
Yep, Sproat had a 1-2 count with two outs and gave up a gap line drive hit over the heart of the plate also.

Wingtee, simmer down dude, I feel your pain too, we all do. But the least you could do is show some respect to our fellow members. In this case a moderator. MCB51 is busting her azz to make this a better place to enjoy sports together. Chill out, brother.

When you throw 90MPH vs 96+ it makes a big difference.

    This.

While removing Sproat was a bad decision in hindsight, you kinda get the feeling it didn’t really matter in the long run. When none of your relievers can throw strikes, walk a 9 hole hitter that looks like his weight matches his batting average of .150, and walk in 5 (was it more?) runs… you aren’t winning many games.

I never envisioned this team getting run-ruled.
