Can the DH only be used for the Pitcher spot? Can the DH be used for 1st base? Cags would be the Pitcher/Batter and Wyatt would DH for the 1st baseman who would not bat. The new pitcher would come in for 1st base and Cags would move to that spot.

How so? Last weekend Sully switched him and Cags so Waldrep pitched at same time and day he was scheduled to pitch. Yesterday it was Sproat who had the change.[/QUOTE]

Just a supposition on my part, and probably nothing to it but pitchers have their specific routines to get ready. I arrived early to a game during the first month of season, and noted that as part of his pre-game preps Waldrep has a long solitary meditation session in the bulpen just before he steps on the mound in the pen and starts to throw in earnest-- and that is after his regular stretching and throwing in the outfield with Riopelle. Probably the case with others as well but Waldrep has not looked sharp in the last two games. Then again he's throwing against SEC bats now.

I think it's more of what we saw in scrimmages where Waldrep can throw two great innings but then struggle in another giving up multiple runs. He's faced SEC teams before and given up runs then. That's why I kept saying Sproat has better potential because he seems to minimize those better. It didn't work so out yesterday but let's see how it goes.

Never seen it done but the way you laid it out seems plausible. That one is above my pay grade lol. Only issue is you really don’t want to pull a pitcher who just threw 90 pitches off the mound and put him in a defensive position.

In fairness he had one absolutely disastrous inning and was really really good in the two innings before and the two
    Innings after the disastrous inning.

I’d like to see a clean game in terms of:
    Limited walks

Limited guys being HBP- although pitching inside is definitely part of the game.

Error less ball. Big one yesterday cost us a few runs. the play in Centerfield yesterday with two pretty good catches and a throw out at home plate was huge.

Guessing Slater and Purnell out of pen first. Maybe Abner for an inning.

I will say not—double headers are part of the games, as a pitcher nor as a coach did they ever bother me in preparation or play. If anything pitching the second game should put you in full game speed mode after watching your team in game one.

Great points and from pitchers I’ve known very well routine was huge. I’m trying to remember if Waldrep has had some not so good defense from time to time also behind him.

I know it’s been said our last 4 SEC starts haven’t been stellar but I think back to a play here or there that may have made 2 of the 4 starts at least ok.

Even Tuesday against FSU we aren’t down early if we make a pretty routine play.

And I’d think to help see tendencies of hitters regarding how they react to pitches. Way better than film to me as film that is two weeks old is just that- old as good as these guys are they make good adjustments all the time. Viewing Live action and pitching later that day could be advantageous I’d think but I’m no pitching coach.

This scenario pretty much makes the hands on approach a little more realistic for both the pitcher and the pitching coach.

Only way Purcell is out of the bullpen first is if we are up 20-0 or down 30-0. Yikes

Cags pitching works best with Wyatt in tne lineup. Takes a little of the pressure off him,.IMO.

This lineup for the Gators is about as good as it gets as far as hitting potential. If they get hot, they are going to unload on someone quick. Now hoping Cags is good for the first 5.
