Colby Shelton as leadoff hitter has not worked out. Time to make the change.

Some folks come from a football mentality and don't understand baseball.

Maybe a little warmer? Perhaps thaw out the batting

I said the wind was evil. And it was IMO.

It was blowing in and kept at least 2-3 balls in the park that would have been out on a calm day.

Here is what a local TV station says:

Saturday afternoon will bring temperatures in the middle 60s and wind gusts up to 30 mph. This also blows in rain showers that start late Saturday night and continue into early Sunday morning. Clouds decrease throughout Sunday, but the day remains breezy.

    Who do you suggest?

I'd like Ricky Henderson, Tim Raines, Pete Rose or Lou Brock.

Yep! Baseball 101.... The question is: do we have someone on the coaching staff whose paid job is to work with our hitters, and when he sees that the wind is not suited for swing-from-the-heels approach, makes adjustments? This game was painful to watch. Two hits in 11 innings and 14 Ks is it? The pitching from McNeillie and Fisher the most encouraging but Neely as Friday night SP is a question mark.... and while we're at - what's up with Shelton on O and D and the bobble, double clutch and off the mark throw from Shelnut in LF to allow winning run to get to second. How many games can we flush before the pipes clog?

Sounds like it's time to reshuffle the batting order again. Not sure who leads off but a change is needed. Also, surprised Donay wasnt in the lineup after his midweek performance.

    Wasted a good pitching performance.

It seems our hitters best approach tonight was the old Hit By Pitch. Other than Heyman connecting on a long ball, I have to give Cags credit for at least knocking a ball down to get an infield hit. Think about that for a minute. The Gators failed to get a ball down in play in the outfield or past the infielders all game. Heyman's was fair and over the fence but we had nothing in play on the ground between the infield and the outfield wall all night.

    Shelton's numbers as a leadoff hitter: .125 BA, .406 SLG, .263 OBP, .669 OPS
Shelton's numbers not as a leadoff hitter: .313 BA, .738 SLG, .447 OBP, 1.184 OPS

    Kurland's numbers as a leadoff hitter: .297 BA, .547 SLG, .400 OBP, .947 OPS

Kurland had 2 games out of 16 where he didn't reach base as a leadoff hitter; I think tonight was Shelton's first time. Kurland has a much higher strikeout rate, but Shelton's strikeout rate as a leadoff hitter isn't much better.

I'd be open for a number of ideas, but Shelton as a leadoff doesn't look very productive to date. It's fair to factor in strength of competition, but not sure if that fully makes up for the disparity. Also not factoring in Kurland's hand.

    Go GATORS!

It was a joke. I don't believe in jinxes. I assure you my post had nothing to do with our poor batting.. again.

Anyway, no way mizzou has an outing like that again. Series win is in the bag.
