Thats about as good as AU can play. 2 out , 2 strike solo HR in 1st for Hogs was all the scoring. AU had way more chances vs Hagen Smith than I expected. 0/6 RISP vs him including 2nd & 3rd 1 out & loaded 1 out, in back to back innings. Smith just Kd next 2 outs both times.

Ill never complain about losing a 1-0 game, in fact would almost rather lose 1-0 than win 15-14.. The 16 Ks the only negative,, but Smith is averaging 20K per 9..so kind of expected. lol Only legit 'ace' in SEC this year IMO. Tygart a close 2nd.. with his 0.73 ERA.

They definitely need more of a plan/approach every at bat than they’re currently showing.

We swing at way too many sliders in the dirt AND are in pull mode on those pitches to boot.

Hogs win w/ solo shot gain.. this time in 9th instead of 1st..lol They just know how to win,, or AU knows how to lose,,or both. Tygart didnt make it out of 4th, still didnt matter. AU 2 guys thrown out at home didnt help final tally.

I wll say Hogs lineup leaves a lot to be desired. vandy hit AU pitching like it was on a tee.. Ark not so much. 9th inning HR was by a defensive replacement at catcher ,who had 2 hits all year... just silly.

There was also a 30 minute delay in 8th for a concussed umpire. He took a foul ball of mask. So ok, they have to move the umps around, no bigy right... Well I guess there was no extra umps gear(home plate) on site.. So the new homeplate ump had to leave site and go to wherever to get geared up. Biggest ovation of night was when he came riding in on golf cart 30 minutes later..lol

Why isnt there a spare ump ready to go, w/ equipment on site if needed?? Per broadcasters(AU guys) this is an SEC issue.

Watching a back and forth game between Auburn & Arkansas. Top of 7th/ 7-6 Auburn. All game long BOTH TEAMS have been hitting the baseball where it’s pitched—just as many HR’s and basehits oppo as have been pulled hits.

    Such a pleasure to watch……

Is Kentucky good, or have they just played the 2 worst teams in the east to this point? The pod I listen to on baseball, thought Mizzou had a good hire at head coach, but felt like they would be lucky to win 5 conference games all year.

If UGa had any pitching they may never lose.
Their offensive numbers are stupid. 74 HR already. Condon w/ 17 of those. Their 2b is 6-3 240(MSU transfer Slate Alford.

ELO is a good metric to try to answer this question, as ELO ratings are controlled for strength of competition. Currently, Kentucky sports a 1615 rating according to WalterNolan. This ranks 12th in the nation. For comparison, the Gators are ranked 16th with a 1609 rating. At least by this one metric, Kentucky seems to be pretty good.

Yeah I guess, but it shouldnt take a human to not currently have UCf 6th, Nebraska 10th. Really the only difference in ELo is you dont have those random teams w/ great RPIs based on bad metrics(schedule).. Fairfield a few years ago for example. Im not giving a human credit for knowing Fairfied wasnt the #1 team in country,, Just a flawed RPI. Without looking back, Id guess more than half their games were on road. I mentioned in another thread the RPI gives way to much crredit for just playing a true road game. A RPI tweak would probably solve it w/ out needing a new system IMO

I honestly am not sure what the ELO involves. I just assume there was a human/media poll element that removes those team I mentinoed from a lofty ranking. Maybe not???
