LSU falls in SEC opener at State The hits just keep on not coming for the LSU baseball SEC-opening series against ancient rival Mississippi State. Unfortunately for LSU, the Tigers’ bats were no rival for the Bulldogs’ hit sticks. State outhit LSU 16-6 en route to a 10-4 victory that hung the first loss of the season on new staff ace Luke Holman. It’s the first time Holman has given up runs this season. Not that the hitting has given him much support. It’s only the first of 30 SEC games, but it is part of a troubling trend for LSU. The Tigers’ offensive onslaught last year was practically legendary. This year, the lack of offense is becoming increasingly infamous.
UK sweeping UGA.. got a chuckle from me Miss state and Bama are surprising outcomes and I guess UF taking the series against A&M would be an upset as well.
They arent the only ones with pitching poblems.... but yes they do. I said that couple weeks ago to someone. Bama transfer has been good, very little after him. Other than Ark, Im not sure who doesnt have pitching issues. All of Vandys guys 97+ but really not that great IMo.. Bama arms have been good too. aTm was great vs Wagners of world,, were ok but not great this weekend. I guess AU is going w/ last years formula.. 3-12 w/ 9+ ERA first half,, 12-3 sub 3 ERA 2nd half. Although Im not sure 3-12 is feasible. Ark next, at aTm, Vols. 4 T10s to start sec. Last 4 years AU is 1-12 on SEC opening weekend.. I think Butch just likes to make it interesting.. But they do have serious mound malfunctions.. The starters expected to be good havent been, back end been ok if can get to them before game out of reach. The 3 or 4 FR have looked better than anyone, but far from ready to start SEC games.. Although they may not have a choice.
