No need to rush Simmon if we have Lagaway next year. Sure competition is good, but separation for two great QBs helps us more. Plus Lagaway is a huge recruiter for us, why take a chance another school comes in saying we aren't loyal to him after all he is doing and he leaves, and takes recruits with him?

With NIL already screwing things up, let's show a little loyalty at least... that can pay dividends that NIL cant.

UF did not get a Qb this year as we have seen you cannot rely on the portal Simmons and Lagway will be fine. Who knows Simmons may leave after 1-2 years to play MLB he got a cannon for an arm I’m hearing 98 mph fastball already

be smart to get him to sign for 2023. Maybe he will play baseball at UF while he redshirts for football. But I agree he could definitely be drafted in mlb in 2023, or 2024, or 2025 and if he hasn’t signed with Uf he can go to mlb. Rather he was at Uf.

Simmons may also be waiting for mlb draft this year before he reclassifies. Just in case he gets drafted in a spot he likes.

For all the recruiting Lagway has been doing for us, do we know if he’s played a part in recruiting other QBs that he may ultimately have to compete against for the starting job?

He can sign a football scholarship and still get drafted.
I believe the 3 yr wait is only if he is playing baseball on a scholarship.

    A couple of thoughts-

Usually you can only bring in so many credits from AP/IB classes, if he's doing dual enrollment it's probably somewhat different but not sure all of those would transfer/be accepted so he might be closed to maxed out from that point

I know it's not his mom lecturing to him in the living room but if he's a home schooled kid, I'm not sure how much of the HS experience he'd be missing out.

I just watched a podcast that said he already had 15 college credits.

In any case, sounds like the kid’s reclassifying for ‘23. Let’s see what he can bring to the table.

I think he’s really good, but not sure that defense put up a fight. There were three receivers open on almost every play.

A few of those "receivers" had yellow caps on -- they were actually defenders. Just really bad defenders.

And he wasn't very good that year. And was the overall #1 recruit "can't miss" in the country (if I recall).

It happens, but is RARE in this league. Not unusual for a 5 star QB TF to see the field, but rarely helps the team in meaningful ways.

I've changed my mind. He's big and has the tools. While I still don't think he'll be our savior this year, I think he can be at least as good as Miller or Brown. We really don't have ANY athleticism under center. So if the coaches think we need him in the QB room now, I'm for it. (not that anyone cares)

Well, on balance, better than uncatchable.
