Every team remaining is dangerous. I’d prefer facing a team that hasn’t played us yet, and underestimates us.
What i want more than anything is for us to finally play our best game, something similar to what we did at home against Tenn. If we do that AND take care of the ball, i think it’s less about who we play and more about playing to our potential for an entire game - something we haven’t done since the SECT
I prefer Auburn because Michigan state can muck it up and play the ugly game. We don’t seem to like those games - see UConn, Texas tech
Prefer not to play Auburn again. I'm not an SEC fan anyway, so generally pull against them. Just a Gator fan.
Matt McCall was on Sirius radio the other day talking about his days as a Donovan asst. Each asst would be assigned a squad and scout them. He mentioned being really sad when Michigan hit a buzzer beater to become our next opponent. Apparently, they ran a very complicated offense. If Golden approaches things similarly, our assts are covering every remaining team in the tourney.
I remember Donovan talking at length about this after the back-to-back titles. Teams always assign an assistant to scout each of the other teams. Whoever scouted Auburn earlier in the year would be assigned to them again, and someone else would get MSU. Regardless of the team I think we have to play lights out to get a shot at Duke. We need good 3-pont shooting from everyone, not just one or two guys, but all 5 of our shooters (I'm including Zel and Haugh with the three guards, but if Urbie plays, make that 6).
I'm confident our guys know that. We've been a little tight. Which is understandable. To play completely loose with extreme intensity for 40 minutes is the key. Coaches and seniors need to make it so.
lol , no team will underestimate Florida .. we were favorites to win it all by the national media boys . Why would u post that ?
Billy talked at length about maintaining focus and purpose once reaching the F4 with the ‘04s distractions abound. Now hopefully the pressure has been released and they settle in knowing they are deep into “house money”. As stated elsewhere, we have a sensational group representing UF and they are locked in on each other’s success. CTG and their skill sets check the box for admission to the finals but it is their steadfast belief in each other and accountability to make necessary plays that is the x-factor fueling this post season run. I honestly expect 2 more games with the finals a toss up, nobody deep down really wants face us
I d I dunno; maybe we rely on our scouting acumen and how we adhere to that. I hope we don’t come out lethargic and careless as we have in the tourney. We seemed to be a tad tight in the early part of some games; not nervous, just tight out of the gate. Auburn is very quick yet so are we; I think their defense is average but they can score in droves; we had two droughts in 2nd half last night we can’t repeat. I think we are more physical than AU but Broome is great. Don’t know much about MSU but know they have to be well coached. His style is to out-physical teams low, which is a concern considering TT’s two bigs pushed around pretty good last night, pretty much had their way. I’d want research both teams bench strength as that is one of our best weapons. Most teams get tired in 2nd half against us, including this tournament;I know UConn wore out and I think TT got tired in last 5 minutes last night. Finally, I think Golden is quite good and analyzing games and adjusting as required. We all know one thing - we don’t quit!!
Well we pretty much rolled over teams we played before in the SEC tournament, and have struggled against new teams of similar quality in NCAA tournament. So I go with Auburn
Auburn’s big problem is they’re not very deep inside. If Broome gets in foul trouble, they’re had. I think Michigan state is going to be a big problem unless auburn has a great shooting night and doesn’t foul.
