    40. UCF (61,558, 1811)

    Fun with numbers:

FLORIDA had a higher average home attendance than the total attendance of nearly 37% of all D1 programs (112/305).
The SEC accounted for 32% of the total fans despite only accounting for a little more than 6% of the games.
LSU had 67,048 more total fans than the entire Big Ten despite playing 262 fewer home games.
SEC, ACC, Big 12 accounted for more than half of the total fans and just under 16% of the total games played.
The Big Four (LSU, Arkansas, MSU, and Ole Miss) accounted for 15.8% of the total attendance on just 1.8% of the total games.
Average attendance of Big Four = 10,531
Average attendance in rest of SEC = 4,265

All in all, it was good to see FLORIDA up to #5 in total and #7 in average.

Interesting #s. Vandy with better attendance than Georgia and Kentucky and almost even with Auburn/Bama . Just win baby and they will come... maybe.

And Fgcu, 284 people, WTH!. It's not like there is anything else to do in Ft Myers.

It would be interesting to see rankings based on percentage of stadium seats filled.

How would you quantify berms or terraces as compared to a seat? I do think its important to know how many people actually show up and not just the tickets sold in seats. But berms are like standing room only. If we can squeeze in 3500 for a super regional is that the number that should be used to account a regular season mid week, of course not. Or are you thinking berms, terraces, and standing room only still compare to the seats total. In this case our super regional number of around 8500 compared to the total seat capacity of 5,000 or so.

We were more than twice what UM drew and almost twice what F$U drew - this is great!
I now live outside New Orleans and would consider attending UF vs LSU games but don’t want to risk getting shot in Baton Rouge!

I get that paid attendance means tickets sold and not every ticket sold results in a butt in a seat. In other types of games the number of press people count as attendance and they don't pay.

Now I have to ask if tickets like the UF president seats are actually tickets sold and paid attendance? And if they are who paid for them?

You won't get shot. But you will have to deal with the stench of corn dogs.

Those are tickets sold numbers I assume,, not butts in seats.. No way AU avg that many,,among some others that stick out as laughable.

No idea since I no longer visit FM, but I would think so. I vaguely recall a field trip in elementary school eons ago, very attractive estate as I recall but that was before Ian.

  12. I assume berm and overall figures are pretty accurately reported with electronic tickets and whatnot. Gotta remember everyone has to scan in electronically so we get a pretty good estimate of fans and whatnot. We definitely suffer from lots of people being hours and hours away on the weekend from coming to a game and that'll never change.

One problem with affordable tix for Gator basketball and baseball is the out-of-town fans who buy up prime seats, but only show up for prime weekend games, and not all of those.

the berms are cute and fine for kids, but something better than damp grass is necessary for a regular crowd of adult general admission fans. GA tix fans are a prime source for future season tix sales.

  14. Regarding your first paragraph no doubt, was lucky enough to buy tickets for me and my dad for 1 game in the Vandy series behind home plate. Wish stuff was cheaper but I get it, we're a growing fanbase. If I lived in Gainesville I'd be there every weekend but Florida is so damn spread out we deal with a ton of issues, one of which is that on Saturdays it's either drive 2 hours home for fans postgame or pay a big hotel fee to spend the night. It's an unfortunate reality of our situation essentially being 2 hours from the 3 big areas Tampa, Jax, and Orlando.

For sure man but I think you're downplaying a lot of student support on Fridays and Saturdays.

I get the gate total would be accurate. My comment earlier was about our capacity number not gate totals. Should our stadium capacity compare equally to other stadiums that have berms.

As a long time season ticket holder that attends most games I would say that student attendance is down. It is no longer a short walk from Frat Row and most dorms.

I don't agree with this. I am consistently blown away by the student attendance. At least once or twice a weekend series I like to take a walk around just to see what the crowd is like out there. The students are digging it, big time. Getting students to go to the MAC was like pulling teeth. I'll see if I can get any actual data on it.

I am wondering the same. Students at the Mac used to all gather down the third base line for the most part and looked larger at times. Now they are spread out around the park and hard to tell just how many there are. Tough to say over the regular season how the totals would compare.

UAA has the info. They use student IDs to enter, so the attendance numbers are collected in the same manner as any other entry.

  20. Yeah I mean just from tv in the regular season it looks much larger than the Mac, they seem to occupy the berms without assigned seating. I also really don't remember much if any student involvement at the Mac other than bigger games. If I was king I'd let students bring coolers in with alcohol and limit those coolers to a designated berm area but that seems as likely as me winning Powerball. Regardless, just based off tv I think no question student attendance is up.
