I really don't have a dog in this fight because I'm neither a Saints or Falcons fan. But, what happens in the next game where the Saints are winning and he lines up in the victory formation when Atlanta decides "as a team" they need one more sack and the whole defense clocks Jameis? Will Jameis and the Saints be so accepting?

As a Saints fan, I would laugh my ass off if Jameis got smushed. 1. He's a Nole. 2. He's the backup QB anyway...have at it!

There’s a good chance Jameis won’t even be back with the Saints next year lol

What he did to Pitts was awful. No other coach in the league could come close to holding Pitts back like Smith did. Hope he gets traded to a franchise that realizes what they have.

Not sure if Smith was a Ridder guy or owner but what a mistake that was.

To be clear, I think it was a fine move to get the RB a TD. I actually think that's cool.
But to do it out of victory formation was the garbage move.

1000% agree with this. The issue is the V formation for me. QBs audible out of plays all the time. But the V formation is universally known as “we are not running a play. Prevents unnecessary injuries at the end of the game when it’s obvious there is no winning for the other team. ROTS, don’t care, have at it….that’s part of the game, it’s your job to stop me. But if you’re going to do it, don’t do it out of that formation.

Head coach should insist that he’s gone. Can’t have a backup quarterback overriding the play called and going rogue. Last time I looked the rapist is no Tom Brady.

Head coach has bigger things to worry about, he might not be back either

I guess the game (and life) is passing me by. Concepts like class, professional courtesy, respect for authority, and sportsmanship are things I value of my school, my profession, and myself. I'm getting old...

Smh people were probably just as mad at Arthur Smith for being in the position he is in because of his daddy’s money

Man, this is wrong in SO many ways (if you are implying that college football was classier back in the day). I could start a thread, but it would be better to discuss over a beer or several, definitely don't want to send this to Too Hot. With that said, we have the old school FLORIDA Flop to the new school timeout calls against Georgia. All legal plays, and I loved every part of what they stood for...never once whined about what Georgia did because that gave us 15 yards and nobody got hurt. None of those plays were "classy." None of those plays were worth getting bent out of shape about (other than channeling energy towards motivation).

I remember Randy Shannon getting mad about the FG late in the game to make it 26-3 with less than 30 seconds left in the game. I love that so many have a different view on this stuff, though, it makes it interesting.

Everyone draws their line somewhere, I suppose. For me, it's clock striking 0 and not intending to injury anybody outside of the normal game play.

    Go GATORS!

Yes. It would not be rational for the Saints coach to whine to the Falcons coach if the players made that determination on their own and it was outside the scope of the call made by the coach.

if I recall, years ago I think under Schiano the Tampa Bay bucs defense did do this and got blasted for it.

The fact that Winston is still in the league is complete that the NFL has expanded beyond its talent pool.

How can he be playing and Trask sits behind Jameis “Wanna Be” Mayfield.

Jameis doesn't play lol. I would say that him and Trask are likely not NFL QBs.

Dude, have you seen any of the trash the Jets have rolled out at QB this year? Jameis - for all his myriad flaws - would be a 100% improvement. The talent drops off quick after the top-10 or so QBs.
