And certain members of the gop, and even some posters here. Pick a side. Russia is NOT our friend.

ISIS got its start in Syria, fighting the Assad Regime. To keep Assad from falling to ISIS or one of the other anti-Assad factions, Russia intervened in Syria. Fighting ISIS was one of the few areas of cooperation we had with Russia since 2014. When I was over in the Middle East in 2021 on the anti-ISIS mission, there were actually parts of eastern Syria patrolled by Coalition and Russian forces, and there was a cell in Kuwait dedicated to coordinating with the Russians and making sure we accidentally shoot each other.

Edit: Never mind, got the joke now. I’ll leave the rest as information.

Minor correction. ISIS was actually an outgrowth of the remnants of al Qaeda in Iraq although it probably did experience its greatest growth in Syria.
Timeline: the Rise, Spread, and Fall of the Islamic State
The Islamic State – also known as ISIS, ISIL, or Daesh – emerged from the remnants of al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI), a local offshoot of al Qaeda founded by Abu Musab al Zarqawi in 2004. It faded into obscurity for several years after the surge of U.S. troops to Iraq in 2007. But it began to reemerge in 2011. Over the next few years, it took advantage of growing instability in Iraq and Syria to carry out attacks and bolster its ranks. The group changed its name to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in 2013. ISIS launched an offensive on Mosul and Tikrit in June 2014. On June 29, ISIS leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi announced the formation of a caliphate stretching from Aleppo in Syria to Diyala in Iraq, and renamed the group the Islamic State.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/03/23/moscow-terror-attack/

Pretty informative Op Ed. We had warned Russia numerous times and even warned Americans living there to avoid concerts. A while ago we warned the Iranian government of pending terrorist attacks and like the Russian government the warnings were ignored.

In some cases the US has worked with the Taliban in Afghanistan against ISIS, providing air cover for them when attacking ISIS. Air Force members jokingly refer to themselves as the Taliban Airforce.

Very similar to what happened in the war against ISIS in Iraq. We were providing to close air support to Shiite militias that were backed by Iran. Probably the same militias that we have been bombing during the last couple of months.
    From 2015
Shiite militias, once a foe, may now get U.S. support in fight against ISIS

To the false flag nonsense …

What would Russia have to gain from staging this ? Putin is coming off a landslide election win, Ukraine is on life support and the West is growing war weary.

They should outlaw automatic rifles and bombs. That should stop anymore mass shootings and killings.

They should have a nation that has more guns than people. That will eliminate gun violence by making criminals scared and people able to defend themselves. And schools very safe.

    It worked here.
