By: Gentry Hawk -- February 22, 2025 With spring practice coming up on March 6th followed by Florida’s Orange and Blue Spring game on April 12th, Gator Country breaks down Florida’s cornerback room as we roll into spring camp in just a few weeks. After having one of their best seasons in quite some time last year under former defensive backs coach Will Harris, Florida’s familiar cornerback room looks to take another step forward in 2025 under new defensive backs coach Deron Wilson. Denson wasn't mentioned. I guess he's listed at Star. I think it's a very good room. It has a solid floor and a very high ceiling.
Denson played only Star last year and along with Gates who is coming off a significant injury, are our only Star DB’s with the transfer mentioned from Southern Miss. Hopefully one or two of our safeties can move or cross train at Star. I hope we can get a decent to good corner with experience in the spring transfer portal as we’re young and thin with Grimsley’s status unclear and Moore’s history with injuries.
I don’t like that this article is JUST on the corners. Do the whole secondary room so you can see safety /nickel and what packages will look like. Frustrating attempt at making me read 2 separate pieces
We simply can't have the same number of injuries we had last year. We dont have the numbers for that to happen. We were going to the 4 deep, which is unheard of.
