Hoping his mind is elite too. The QB position is much more than arm talent. We've had a lot of guys at Fla with arm talent, but couldn’t read a defense. I like what I’m hearing about him.

 

This is a promising start to the new season.

 

It’s always promising at UF. If he starts bad he will be ridiculed like every other coach, QB, DC , AD that comes thru here. Go Jags

 

I don't see our coaches putting him in a position to "start bad." The worst case scenario is if none of the other QBs step up and Jaden has to start before he's ready. Even then, we'll see both good and bad. Most likely scenario is that he gets time to develop, spring and at least half a season before he takes on the starting role.

 

His ability to read the field is as exceptional as his arm. He's very decisive and gets the ball away quickly. You'll see it in his high school clips but even more in 7 on 7 competition. I liked him from the get-go but was very encouraged by his improvement during his senior season.

This is the most comprehensive evaluation I've seen for Jaden. Dropping some of my favorite quotes.

"An indicator of his ability to process, Rashada sees throwing windows before his target enters them and doesn't usually think twice before uncorking a pass into the window. More often than not, those passes split the zone defenders and end up in a perfect spot for the receiver and the receiver alone to make a play."

"Rashada is a poised passer under pressure, not often flustered by pass rushers and able to extend plays when necessary. Rashada will stand in the paint and take a big hit if he sees a target entering a throwing window that he can squeeze a ball into, and he'll also step up with confidence to make a pass when edge rushers collapse the top of the pocket."

"Although Rashada will take occasional chances on big plays while under pressure (which do seem to pay off often), he's a smart enough quarterback to simply take what the defense gives him when he's forced off of his read.

If an underneath receiver opens up while Rashada is on the run or stuck in a collapsing pocket, he'll opt for the check-down to keep the offense in rhythm rather than take unnecessary risks for the chance at an explosive gain. This is a great example of poise and awareness that not too many high-school signal-callers put on display regularly."

"Rashada can use different types of throwing motions based on his situation. From a clean pocket and when he's not on the run, his motion is quick and compact — he rarely drops the ball below his chest as he winds up and also rarely lets the ball go over his head when he releases it. As a result, the ball glides off of his hand with a consistent spiral as well as elite and controllable velocity.

His quick and compact release allows Rashada to make passes in a timely fashion, pairing nicely with his ability to see throwing windows before they're open which allows him to execute passing concepts to perfection."​

Not going to say "can't miss" but I honestly don't remember a Gator signee as polished as Rashada since Rex Grossman.

Except there was not an elite QB prospect on the roster. Best we had was a 3 star QB with 5 star athleticism.

You had to be disappointed also while watching AR. He was better than most foe sure but we really had high hopes for him. I have to vote underwhelming based on what we all hoped he would be. Better than most but not even remotely considered for a statue.

The comments make Rashada look like that chess genius girl in the Queen's Gambit series.
If this young gentleman delivers on the hype that being published on him, then we are in for a very pleasant an exciting experience.
Look for some players to come to UF because of Rashada. It may not happen now, but it will be happening after the 2023 season.

 

I think there will be quite a few that come because of Lagway too. He committed early specifically to help build the class he’s bringing with him.

 

I agree, at 6'2" and 225lbs, he could be a beast!

 

It’s good hearing things like this. I really don’t know much about, beyond his back & forth recruitment & comments ( good & bad) about his potential, on GC.

I just hope no one kicks the “ hype-machine “ into overdrive and fan’s expectations run too high.

You just can’t pin your hopes that a true freshman is going to fully take the reins and lead a team. In today’s game, with all the media attention, that’s asking a lot of an 18-19 year old.

What I do know is fans ( that’s us) are gonna expect A LOT, HOPE even more, and willfully and loudly display our displeasure when disappointed.

Right now, to me, he’s a freshman, with potential. Same as the other 19 signees.

Even if he has a pretty good spring, it means nothing more than that. He had a good spring. He will still be a true freshman.

Our history has taught me, don’t get too excited about ANY freshman. Don’t get too hyped about ANY spring performances. I’ll wait for September before I trust anything. Proof is in the pudding.
