The No.5 Florida Gators stomped Georgia 89-59 on Saturday afternoon. Florida’s defense showed up big with 13 steals, which helped UF earn a 23-4 fastbreak scoring edge.

"Sophomore forward Alex Condon chipped in 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists while spending most of his minutes defending Georgia’s leading scorer, Asa Newell, limiting Newell to eight points on 4-for-14 shooting."

I hadn't particularly noticed that -- I saw Newell had a bad box score, didn't connect to Condon. My goodness.

    On creating turnovers…

“I think the guards do a great job of pressuring, A-Mart’s [Alijah Martin] insane on the ball up there, and pressing. And then we got that 1-2-2 working a little bit against South Carolina, so taking that over to this game and kind of speeding up their guards a little bit helped us a lot, just to create some turnovers and stuff.”

I think this is an important statement when discussing if the 1-2-2 is effective or not in another thread. The point is whether we create enough turnovers verses giving up too many easy baskets, it's more about speeding up the opponent. Therefore, going forward when we face a lessor team that wants to play slow trying to keep it close, expect CTG to use more of the press to speed the game up. Don't get lost in the turnover battle verses giving up layups as much. Instead watch to see if the game speeds up whether we are in the press or not.
