Article: Nick Saban should be college football's commissioner

While I detest the way NIL is currently working, as it clearly needs rules and reform, it has had one benefit: the schools that didn't want to cheat, can pay now. The cheaters have lost their edge.

That's why little Nickie tucked tail and ran; he had lost his competitive advantage and he knew it.

He shouldn't be in charge of anything.

 

He ran that program with integrity.

 

And the world's biggest cheater that actually believes he did things the right way

Reform always seems to bother Bama in a big way. Scholarships restrictions impacted the Bear in a huge way. Took Bama a decade to recover. Now anyone ponying up the money can do or outdo Bama for recruits. Their advantage of those in oversight looking the other way is over, at least for awhile.

We do NOT NEED AN NFL type commissioner to take us further down that rabbit hole of dysfunction of professionalism. If anything, we need to fight to get back to amateurism, and the student athlete status that the NCAA is trying to eradicate.

We need to keep all the individual conferences intact. And we need to fight against one overseeing body... like the NFL.

However, we do need a new oversight organization committee... something other than the NCAA. At the every least, we need a new NCAA president.

 

Rick, agree with you usually, but you're living in fantasy world if you think we'll ever see the way it was again.

 

We don't have ONE commissioner of college football, and I doubt that will happen soon. So, that's my point. Also, there are still a few things still not happening at this time.

College football does NOT need to be a semi-pro league like some think it is. It's not there and I hope we can keep the damage to where it is.

But if the worst happens, then at least the portal will get fixed. You cannot have uncontrolled free agency to pay-to-play football.

Like I said, No on Nick Saban.
