By: Nick Marcinko -- August 3, 2023 Redshirt freshman quarterback Max Brown is entering his second season as a Florida Gator after not appearing in a game during his freshman year. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native led Lincoln Christian High School to a 13-1 record and 3A state runner-up finish in 2021. Brown earned Oklahoma District 3-3A MVP after tossing for 2,750 yards and 41 passing touchdowns during his senior season. After sitting in live on the first three days of fall practice, it’s evident that Brown has noticeably improved, even since spring camp. There’s more zip behind his ball and his accuracy seems to have significantly improved. Max Brown’s athleticism stands out in the quarterback room | GatorCountry.com
I know everyone loves DJ but don't count Brown out. He was raw when he got here but will have over two years under Napier in 24.
As I have said plenty of times for the past 5-6 years or so, what I want is a couple of games where we have scored enough points to allow second and third string QBs to come in and get some real live fire experience. Unfortunately, they have become as rare as hen's teeth. Hopefully, this is the year where a game or two (or three) manifests.
It was hard to replace AR last year. I could see any of our qbs getting pulled and another getting a shot this year though. SOS pulled quite a few guys and found some guys on the bench that could play. If a coach is 6-6 and scared to let Brown play, where’s the logic.
That alone could have a lot of opposing defensive players doing more than just stripping gears and blowing gaskets.
