By: Eric Fawcett -- February 23, 2025 Holding on the the #2 ranking in the AP Poll and likely in a position for a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament the Gators will be looking to maintain their momentum and take care of business on the road at Georgia for the second time this season. Florida Versus Georgia (Round Two) Preview | GatorCountry.com
Gators need to push the current SEC win streak to 7. UF has separated itself from everyone but Auburn and Bama, and is now tied with Bama for second in the SEC after recent Bama stumbles. Tamu and Mizzou both lost this weekend and are still at 9 wins, while UF is at 11 wins now. (Equaling last seasons SEC total victory mark). The UF / Bama show down in Tusk-R-Losa will probably decide the #2 SEC team. Overtaking Auburn for 1st may be a reach but not impossible. UF winning out, going into the S.E.C.T., is certainly within this teams reach. At this stage I'm getting selfish and don't want UF to lose that amazing first seed opportunity. A #1 seed would bring great prestige to Todd and the program. A UGA loss would sting a little bit, at this point in the seedlings, so hopefully the Gators get it done in Athens Tuesday. I expect a big effort from Mike Whites kids, they are sliding precariously around the bubble, and a UF win would help their cause tremendously. Help me out a little NBN - Wasn't UF supposed to finish outside of the top 4 in the SEC by the preseason prognosticators? Weren't the talking heads predicting UF around 6th or 7th in conference? Regarding the SEC tourney, I wonder if UF will have the opportunity for a revenge rematch against KY or Mizzou? It hasn't been this much fun watching UF basketball since Scottie and Patrick's last year. The Gators have really "righted" the SEC ship after some early struggles this season. Of course March Madness will make us all a nervous wreck, but this UF team seems to have everything it takes to make a deep run.
I'm hoping we keep that one seed. Have my hotel for Raleigh already....with the ability to cancel it of course.
Read this article and lol. Georgia is 2-12 ish in quad 1. They struggle on offense, especially in second half’s where offensive cold spells cause lost leads. One player who can score but no theory when teams lock that guy down. Tournament bubble. Etc. It is Mike Whites resume!
