Through 11 SEC regular season games the Florida Gators sit third in the SEC at 8-3, trailing one of the preseason favorites, Alabama, and 2024-25’s powerhouse Auburn who both sit at 10-1.

On paper it looks like a given that one of the Tigers or Crimson Tide will win the SEC’s regular season. For a while Auburn was (deservedly) penciled in to be the projected winner–that was, of course, until Florida was able to knock them off for their first and only loss in league play so far.

So much for conspiracy theories...UF with the easiest conference schedule preseason and easiest for remaining games.

Don't know the methodology but I don't buy that Florida had the easiest sec schedule of 16 teams.
It's not so much who you play as it is where you play them. Florida has road games with the top teams, Kentucky, Auburn, Miss st and Bama with no return home games. That hardly seems like the easiest schedule.

Eric lays it out in the article. It's pretty easy to use these days with advanced stats like KenPom that have adjusted schedule strength.

Guess I misstated. I read the article. Just don't buy the conclusion that Florida has the easiest schedule in the conference.

One problem with computer rankings is that, as far as I know, they don't take into account injuries/illness and recent performance. It's a major flaw in the NCAA Rankings and subsequent seedings by the Committee.

Bama goes down and we are now tied for second place. Auburn has solidified the lead, sort of. The downside is that both Missouri and aTm don't appear to want to get out of the race anytime soon.

Getting one of the four seeds in the SECt is going to be a bear.

    Right here
Missouri has a fairly light schedule with @Arky and vs UK as their two toughest games left. Easily they could drop one or both, but just as easily win both.

TAMU though has a tougher close. In addition to coming to Gainesville (where a Gator victory would put the Aggies three games behind UF), they have to play Tenn and Auburn at home.

Considering Bama’s murderer’s row to end their season, Missouri might indeed be Florida’s biggest rival for SEC seeding. Still, it’s hard to imagine Florida falling out of the top 4 at this point.
