By: Nick Marcinko -- August 1, 2024 Sophomore receiver Tre Wilson is quickly becoming the face of Florida’s program under head coach Billy Napier. In 2023, Wilson hauled in 61 catches for 538 yards and a team-high six touchdowns, earning freshman All-SEC and All-American honors for his efforts in Orange and Blue last season. The Tampa, Florida native played in 10 games including seven starts, ranking T-29th in the FBS in receptions per game at 6.1, which was the most on the Gators. Keep in mind that Wilson was a summer enrollee last season, which means he missed out on spring camp in year one but was still able to make an immediate impact at the collegiate level. Man, it seems like yesterday that I was watching his video in high school, just drooling over how good he will be for the Gators. Now after a year that was every bit as good as I imagined he would be, and he's back for his second year... a bit bigger... stronger and maybe even faster. He's the player that can make the house-calls on any given play, and that's always nice to have that type of receiver on the offense. And with two more talented receivers on the field at the same time, the defenses can't just double-team him up without letting someone like Dike, Jackson, Jean, Mizell or Badger running loose for some big yards. And that's not even counting any of the talented freshman we have on the team. Wilson is going to get his yards, and I will enjoy watching him do it.
