Moten is definitely a welcome addition.

I'm excited to see what our new DC is capable of. Snagging a couple more guys certainly wouldn't hurt, and hopefully there will be some new additions soon-lots of visits coming up. The portal news will filter in nicely during the off-season uni threads!

Wilson has a lack of speed? I don't ever remember hearing that during his recruitment. That's really odd...

Wilson’s lack of speed may be a flaw in his game, but he’s athletic enough to move around the defense, impacting the game in many ways.

I wouldn't put too much stock into that article as it reads a lot like an Op-Ed article instead of true reporting. The arthor states "Wilson played a ton as a true freshman" with nothing to back it up, so it's a lazy way of saying how much he played. And discussing Moten's poor tackling rate was due to reporting dexcerapancies??? What descrapancies? If descrepanicies are to blame, explain what/how. Lazy article.

There are posters on this board that do much better research then a lot of the lazy sports writers out there. A few are well-versed and know everything about everyone. Very few.

    More good portal folks please...:D:p

It literally says in the article how many snaps Kamari Wilson played last season, reading is imperative.

I stated that I wouldn’t look too much into the tackling analytics because one year suggested he did really well, and another not so much. Again, it’s all in the article. Florida is not concerned about his tackling ability.

As for not expanding on Wilson’s lack of speed, I do not have a recent 40 yard dash time for you, but that is the scouting report on him and what I observed this spring.

Aren’t sports writers supposed to mix factual reporting with a dash of op-ed anyways? This isn’t the 10 o’clock news. Some of my favorite sports reporters do a great job of mixing player and team stats with their opinions about said player and team. GC reporters like @Nick_Marcinko do a great job of this, IMO. Josh Pate is another one of my favorites.
Keep up the good work @Nick_Marcinko

You didstate that he had 311 snaps, but that's about a third of the total snap count; is that a "ton"? I don't know, that's rather submjective. RE: the tackiling ability, you state that the drop was being from descrepancies in analytics, but offer no explanation of why one year should be regarded as an out-lier. Did anyone on UF's staff report that they're not concerned? If the 2nd year is indicative of his tackling abiltiy, we'll be looking at Trey Dean, Part 2.

I don't mind personal thoughts going into articles, just provide some substance to support the conclusions. Reminds me of one of the GC writers last year saying Trey Dean was due for a break-out year. Still waiting for that year.

I’m allowed to give my opinion in my articles, in fact, I’m asked to.

I stated as a true freshman, Kamari Wilson played a ton of snaps. He ranked second in snaps among true freshman.

You went from telling me that I’m a lazy writer, to saying you just disagree with my opinion that Kamari Wilson played a lot of snaps. That is two totally different angles and tells me you didn’t read the article the first time around.

I provide analytics because they are a unique way to look at the game and allow others to form an opinion on them. Mine is that I wouldn’t look too much into the tackling grade because I don’t believe analytics are the end all be all. I post them to allow others to form an opinion.

You couldn't be more wrong about how sports writers work then, IMO. Nick gives plenty of substance to back his opinions. As for Trey Dean, there is a HUGE difference between a GC writer stating that Trey Dean (or any player) is due for a break-out year and the player actually having a break-out year.

Nick, the overwhelming majority enjoy your articles and your thoughts in them and that's why I reproduce them all in Swamp Gas and the other applicable forums on this side.

Nobody who looks at the range of timely coverage you provide us could legitimately argue you're a lazy writer.

Some on these boards seem to look for things to be contentious about though.

As for me . . . I really appreciate your efforts and will continue to re-post your hard work.
