College football has been going through a series of major shifts in recent years, but nothing compares to the incredible amount of change in 2024. Because it’s hard to remember it all, and because the season is coming up quickly, here is a recap of all the large moves that are happening this year.

The one change that bothers me the most right now, there are others too that I will get into later on, has to do with our new additions to our conference. I want to know why no one told anyone that we would be dissolving the divisions in to one homogeneous conference where some schools could get shafted immediately with ridiculously hard schedules.

Without two separate divisions having the SEC Championship Game is almost unneeded. I wonder how many school presidents and ADs would have singed off on that rivalry killing malaise of scheduling.

Okay... I do have to mention one other point that should NOT be a change... The back pay for NIL when we never had an NIL... How does that work? If this is legal then you could apply that reasoning to virtually any sport in the past including swimming and tennis. Any great Gymnastics player from the past is due NIL money too. Anyone that got into the Olympics that now gets NIL money can sue for "back pay?"

How can you get money ex post facto of a NEW NIL benefit that never existed in the past? I doubt that dealio comes to pass.

I absolutely hate the no division thing too. Well of course, you know who dropped the soap though.

Yep, I've ditched my SEC "Championship" game tix after having them for 30 years. Its not a true championship game anymore, just a meaningless money grab.

There’s no criteria possible to even have two teams representing the SEC championship
