Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs demands $512M reimbursement from Biden in scathing letter accusing him of failure to secure southern border | Daily Mail Online

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, has accused President Joe Biden of failing to secure the southern border, and is seeking half a billion dollars in federal reimbursement for the state's spending on the crisis.

In a letter on Friday, which Hobbs released publicly, the governor requested more than $512 million in federal funds to reimburse state spending on migrant transport, drug interdiction, and law enforcement 'due to the federal government's failure to secure our border.'

It comes after Customs and Border Protection encounters with migrants at the southern border reportedly hit a one-day high of 12,000 on Tuesday, including more than 10,200 who were detained illegally entering the US from Mexico between ports of entry.

That's funny, maybe she'll have better luck than Adams

How does it demonstrate failure pointing to people who are detained?

Awesome question - right up there with: "It was a record cold today in Florida, how does that demonstrate global warming?"

Understanding your response is a deflection to a problem of essentially offering a green light to any and all who cross into the USA with little or no vetting for the bulk of the Biden administration. Thankfully, we have VP Harris on the case...may god help us all.

What she's really saying is that she wants all American tax payers to pay for these illegals in her state.

Immigration funds have been redirected to northern states like New York and Illinois are being shipped up there for the first time.

The funds will be replaced by FEMA, as has been done countless times over the past several decades when immigration money was redeployed away from the borders.

This could be the most over sensationalize, twisted pack of cr@p I have seen in quite some time.

$512M? That’s like 100,000 gift cards for migrants!

Detained?????? For what like five minutes to give them a court date sometime in the next ten years and find out what city they want their free plane ticket to?
Why does she need any money anyhow? I thought the border was secure.

One of the reasons coyotes are now crossing in the Lukeville area is the desolation on the US side. Lukeville is basically just the crossing, and miles north is the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. It's not like crossing in Nogales, where immigrants can settle in town after being released. There is no town to settle in Lukeville, and transportation to civilization is required.

Governor Hobbs isn't happy with Lukeville being closed, because it hurts the Arizona economy. Plenty of trade with Sonora and much it comes through Lukeville. Lukeville is also the gateway to Rocky Point, where a lot of Arizonans spend weekends on the beach. Rocky Point is the unofficial beach of Arizona, and there's a very good relationship between Arizona and Sonora. The border checkpoint being closed hurts both sides.
