Frankly, I don't really root for the SEC so much as I pull for anyone who pisses off the national media as much as the SEC obviously does. I watched a Big Whatever podcast this morning that was dedicated to SEC hate/envy. I'm sure they enjoyed my take on things.
Good call! They both lost, lol! 6 SEC gone already, Texas lost the play in game, Vandy, UGA, OK also out! So much for the mighty SEC! Only 8 of 14 survived round one. My take on "Rooting for the SEC", I would like the conference to warrant the faith that pollsters put in them. SEC got a ton of at large bids and if too many bow out early I think that just feeds the argument that we didn't deserve our ranking. 6 are gone now, so I'm hoping at least 5 get into the Sweet 16. I don't care who since I know we can beat any of them!
Thanks, tilly. I am mending. Kind of a cool story. Way back in August I started feeling run down and sick. Like pretty much all men, I sat/laid there for a coupla weeks hoping to get better; didn’t. Over the phone my doctor suggested I drive to the hospital for testing. Got admitted and the next day I couldn’t move my legs. An absolute shocker. Couldn’t stand, definitely couldn’t walk, and couldn’t even lift my legs to throw them over the side of the bed. Came outa nowhere. Zero pain. Testing found what’s called an AVF (arterial venous fistula) in my brain. Turns out arteries are like fire hoses, veins like garden hoses, and they are not meant to have direct connections. Mine were connected, in my brain. Coulda been that way since birth and had finally just decided to start leaking/burst a little. I had brain swelling. Fistula was way too deep inside my brain to operate, but they had to get to it, fix it, or I’d die. I was scared. Neurosurgeon studied it and then the next day put me under and then snaked a tube up, through my groin, up through my heart and then into my brain (an angioplasty). Tube had a camera on it and some kinda glue gun. Plan was to glue the fistula shut. Problem was he couldn’t get his tube through all the artery curves to reach the fistula. He got close, said the whole neurosurgeon team was watching on a screen rooting him on and then groaning when he couldn’t reach it. When I came to he apologized to me, said we’d try again in a couple of days. Again close, but no success. Now here’s the neatest part. My 3 grown daughters decided they didn’t want me to die, so they went to Chatgpt (AI) and asked for the best AVF neurosurgeon in Florida. 3 names came back, one in Tampa, one at Shands and one in Jacksonville. Tampa guy was out of the country, Shands wanted them to complete a questionnaire and Jax said to get in a car, said they’d see me that night. Lots of testing and a few days later the Jax neurosurgeon performed the same groin/heart/brain procedure I’d already had, but succeeded. I woke up and his first words were, “You’re healed”. We had a nice family cry. I was then sent to Physical Therapy to relearn to stand and walk. I spent 32 nights in hospitals. Was then sent home for outpatient PT. Been going since late October. PT works. It works slow, but it works. I’ve progressed from a wheelchair to a walker and now to a cane. Still working. Sorry about the long sob story, but there’s a message here, the AI part, that might help someone.
Not a great start going 8-6, with 7 of the SEC's top 8 seeds advancing (only Missouri), but the bottom 6 seeds, went 1-5 with only the SEC's lowest seed,Arkansas advancing. If form holds, we'll get 6 into the sweet 16.
He really does! He looks like he’s about to bust open and start oozing out. He’s sure not in the Bill Belichek game attire system.
That’s an unbelievable story! We are glad you are back! I certainly remember your posts. If you had the Jax neurosurgeon I’m thinking about and had 12 years ago, he is really wonderful! Thanks for sharing your incredible story!
I have a hard time rooting for Calipari. If it wasn't for Pitino, there wouldn't be a Coach Donovan, so have to pull for Slick Rick in this one. Someone made the observations that there are more Pitionos left in the tournament than ACC Teams.
Yes as much as you argue with your brothers, you still stick up for them plus, it always helps our SOS
