On the 7 line in both Net and KenPom. At best, we were probably a 6 as we were there for some of the other metrics.
They took the injury into consideration. Still we got the best break we could hope for which is getting a Friday game for the extra day of rest and playing a time that’ll be on one day’s rest.
I trust in TFG to come up with a plan to get us right. He probably understands that we cannot roll into the NCAAT planning to play 7 deep. It would be coaching malpractice. Unless Kugel is hurt or violated a team rule, he better be on that court. If Shimmy is in shape and healthy, guess what bye bye redshirt you playin homie.
I really don't think the injury factored in. Handlogten isn't that important. Metrics always had us in that 7-9 range coming into the tournament. Qualitatively, probably a 6, but getting a Friday game in the same time zone against a play-in team with a beatable 2-seed on deck is a favor, frankly.
Highly doubt he throws a kid out in the tournament who hasn't played all season, and who barely played last year. We absolutely need Kugel, though. At this stage, we just need the three bigs to play 80 minutes, which isn't that many. Maybe steal some transitional minutes with Richard at the four (around TV timeouts, end of first half).
Like in years past, the SEC Conference Tournament results has no bearing on NCAA seedings! Florida is 6-7 in Quad1 wins which is the same number as Kentucky's Q1 wins. Alabama is only 4-10 in Q1 games. Auburn is 2-7 in Q1 games. A #7 seed is very low for the Florida Gators.
Be better if we could steal those minutes with both Richard and Kugel on the court to keep us from being very short.
Totally get what you’re saying, but I think it’s more that 4 is very high for Bama. They will be lucky to get past Charleston and if they do will lose in 2nd round.
NET Auburn #5 (2-7 Q1) Alabama #9 (4-10 Q1 . . . clearly FL was better than Bama this year) Mich St #24 (19 - 14!!!!) Colorado #25 played the 76th ranked schedule per kenpom Kenpom Auburn #4 (see above) Gonzaga #15 (105 ranked schedule) BYU #16 WI #17 / MIst #18 (Big Ten bias) Nebraska ranked ahead of FL
Bruh… just talk to me without the stupid optimistic rating. That said, I think you are correct that Shimmy does not see the court. What I am saying is that if it was a matter of saving the redshirt vs ability to contribute, it may be a discussion… though unlikely.
I still think they did the brackets the day of our quarterfinals. I think the conference gets screwed having championship on Sunday.
Auburn didn't lose a single game outside of quad 1 (10-0 in quad 2 is tough to do). These rankings are also opponent-adjusted, so strength of schedule already comes into play here.
Which is why it is always better to start ranked because they give you the benefit of the doubt. If we finish strong in the tournament, we "should be" ranked next year even though we have to turn our roster over like Alabama etc. Then next year with the same record, we will be a 4th seed. Crazy I know.
