    It has?!

I think UF average attendance, which is based on ticket sales, not butts in seats, is down about 6%. We used to sell out and have a waiting list, but not anymore. And I can tell you we've had a lot of games where the stadium was about half empty. The tickets may have been sold to season ticket holders but they weren't used. This isn't a trend just with UF but college football and sports everywhere.

But for UF, when there was more demand than supply, UF made a LOT more money off of alumni contributions required for the right to buy season tickets than the season tickets themselves.

Most SEC schools have already done or are in the process of doing similar renovations where seat backs are put in and capacity is reduced.

Was told when you do renovations, you now have to do it to code...wider aisle, hand rails, etc
That means cutting back on seating...
We have to do some things to the Swamp, otherwise it would deteriorate more...
Bathrooms and entry gates need help..

The renovated Swamp will seat about 75,000. The fans will finally be able to boo the team in comfort.

    1. There was a rumor of building an entirely new stadium where the golf course is.
    2. $400 Million won’t be close to renovation by the time they get what they want done.
    3. It’s hard for me to believe we can’t find a firm IN Florida and keep the money in state to design and then build/renovate the stadium?

I was referencing YOUR suggestion, lower bowl chairback and upper bowl seat widening. I think thats what they do and I think that triggers ADA. And that will lose a few thousand seats. I have been on about the 40 yard line for decades....this would likely move my seats much closer to the end zone but I recognize the need. And again, lost seaing can be mitigated by reducing visitor allotment.

Duh, yes they could "proceed" with softball because of the obvious steps necessary to build the football facility....that doesn't equate to it being the priority (as is quite obvious by the dollars expended on the projects)

You keep repeating "this slow moving on the football facility" complaint. That has nothing to do with this thread nor the current admin. You might as well be complaining about the astroturf on Florida Field.
I'm not sure there is an overly compelling reason to do any of this stuff. Spending money on a football palace to pamper college kids, paying ridiculous NIL money to high school kids. tearing down a reasonably good baseball stadium and building a new showcase.....is there a compelling reason for any of it? I think most people would say no.
BUT, the football stadium is badly in need of TLC. If it is going to continue to function there must be work done.....and while you are doing some of that upkeep it makes sense to modernize and improve the amenities. it may take a while, it may be in phases, it may be scaled back based on cost/ROI. All that remains to be seen. Just think this is an odd battle for you to fight, especially while complaining UF wasn't proactive on a football facility.

Indeed! The guy next to us was behind a couple with the seat backs and he had practically zero leg room.

I think that was looked at, but too much support to keep the swamp and a new stadium probably goes over $1B. Of course if they do what they want in the swamp it will probably go over $750M

The swamp is old, it has been added to over the years. I remember wooden bleachers in the south end zone and being able to stand on by bike seat to peer over the wall to watch games from the north end zone. That said, the place has character and history. I hope the upgrades don't destroy the character of the place. Work em silly Gators!

Sorry, I misunderstood your post that the plan was to chairback from 0 to 90 between the 20’s.

Right on my brother. I LOVE it on 99 degree 90 plus humidity days. Who we were (or once were) and what we do (or used to do).

Have taken a few in my day in to Gator Country. I told them what it was, and that when game starts I am not your comfort host. The torrential storm.....I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

Gameday experience?? Stopping Auburn on 3rd down and forcing a punt.

Also, I LOVE climbing the bleachers in July. In my will, my ashes are scattered at UF and on Florida Field.

This renovation crap is no good. I want and love my bleachers, the stench, the sweat, the heart racing when you get to the 90th level. HEAVEN!!!!!!
