IMO (and it is totally ignorant) he has enough support in his camp (like V Brown) to invest his guaranteed money wisely. And as long as the "friends and family" don't turn into vultures (easier said than done), he should cry all the way to the bank for the rest of his life. Poor soul.
Never? AR is the prototypical 2023 QB. He was built in a lab. And his reads and mechanics are about as good as you can expect. He may fail because most fail. Heck even Trask seems like he’s not ever going to be a starter. Although there is a reason AR was a much higher pick than Trask. Comments like these just reek of severe butthurt and should have no place on this forum
He had a good game till the last few drives before the half ended. He had a few passes dropped (1 beautiful deep middle) and a few not great catchable balls. He made some plays with his legs and showed he will be fine with patience.
AR is a project. 6/17 in preaseason is rough no matter how you look at it, but Colts are doing what Mullen should have done and give him majority of snaps. Yea, there will be some ugly play this year, but athletically his ceiling is sky high so might as well work through it asap to know what you’ve got. He’ll also give you more than a few “wow” plays.
The “can’t miss” Bryce Young has been something like 6/12 for 56 yards, in two games, and has been unable to move the chains, 0 points. How long before he realizes his natural position is placekicker ?
Honestly not even close. Like different universes. AR posted arguably the best numbers ever at the combine. Even measurables aren’t close. AR also has a better arm and reads the field far better than Franks. There is a reason why one was a top 5 pick and the other had to transfer and was undrafted.
OK. Thanks. I almost put up a disclaimer and apparently should have. LOL! Disclaimer: I don't follow the NFL at all . . . but my grandson does.
No problem. AR will most likely bust, most QBs (most players) do. But he is an elite QB prospect. You don’t get to be a top 5 pick and named a first year starter by random luck.
Rough outing, he had some bad throws and some dropped passes. His athleticism is tantalizing but he’s nowhere near a finished product as a passer. Those coaches have their work cut out for them but hey that’s why they get paid the big bucks.
Cowboys trade for Trey Lance: Dallas acquires former first-round QB from 49ers for 2024 fourth-round pick
Before the usual suspects insinuate anything, I'll say it now, i want AR to succeed. Never rooted against a Gator before, why would I? But this is exactly what we saw of him here. Boom or bust. Make a throw or a play with his legs that few if anyone could make followed by a number of poor decisions, bad mechanics and too hot throws. He needs a lot of work and I hope he gets the time but calling him the starter off the rip is mind-boggling. Really hope I'm wrong because I'd love to see him show out, it just seems really unlikely at this point. Peyton Manning was a turnover machine his early years as cerebral as he was. AR is going to need a long leash early on. Not sure today's climate allows for that.
We must have watched something different. He looked solid in that clip. Being able to run covers A LOT of warts.
I'm sorry but I don't think we will ever agree. He threw to a number of covered receivers. Struggled to hit intermediate and short routes and was again late to his check downs. There is a reason AR was the 3rd best performer passing wise. I'll be the first to blame the receivers for a couple drops but most of the inconpletions were on him. Look, I don't expect him to be better than minshew at this point. I'm not knocking him. But that performance was pretty typical of him so far although I will say he looked more confident than I expected which is a good sign.
He has a chance to get there for sure. I really wish you got a couple seasons to sit and learn though.
The argument is that he's green and didn't have experience in college so struggles were expected yet he's going to be expected to cut his teeth as a starter in the NFL? He shouldn't need several years on the bench like we've seen with Trask but starting day 1 isn't ideal in my opinion.
