He was AR. Good when he was good, bad when he was bad. I thought every rookie QB looked like rookies at times. THE thing with AR, based on history, is whether he will learn from his mistakes and work towards being transcendent or will he sort of shrug. Too many times last year he shrugged. That won't work at the toughest and most coveted position in football.
Critics only understand this concept when it’s a player they actually like and are rooting for. I bet you won’t see any of the “His offensive line is terrible” or “His head coach needs to be fired” excuses made for AR that his critics will make for other young QBs they actually like.
FYI: watching Bryce Young yesterday, he looks tiny. Maybe closer to 5-9 than 6-0. He may yet flourish, but he looked unable to move the ball downfield. He was 4/6 for 21 yards.
Will Grier had a solid game for Cowboys last night: 22/31 for 199, 2TD, 1 INT. He's third-string behind Cooper Rush.
Did you turn the Bucs game off after Trask threw an interception in his first drive? I guess you watched the Colts till you saw what you wanted to see...
AR had at least two drops including one which would have been an ESPN highlight, dropped just over the defender’s shoulder and right into the WRs hands.
Much as it pains me to admit it, Stetson Bennett was the top performer among rookie QBs. Of course he’s like 37 …
Why is that? There are some pretty fast players in the NFL junior league called the SEC. If he tries to simply pass the ball to the opposing team's defense instead of running the ball he won't be starting for long. He had better get used to the idea that the Colts will love it if he gets 40 or 50 BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE. The days where NFL QBs were frowned upon for running the ball are long gone, and now it's get the yards that you can... no matter what. Just as long as you slide, or get out of bounds at the end.
Yes, sir, for sure… And he is also on a team that offensively does not have it many major threats at the wide receiver position. I think he plays for a head coach, though that is going to put him out there and let him learn. If they play good defense, they may surprise some people this will be the first true opportunity. He gets in terms of quarterback, coaching, as I don’t feel, Mullen did anything with him at all and I’m not sure what type of quarterback coaching he received with us when Billy took over and I’m not trying to jam Billy at all
Right out of the gate, QB1, sink or swim in the deep end of the pool. He will take some lumps but get much needed experience. Will be very interesting to see how this goes. Colts name Anthony Richardson starter: Rookie QB gets nod from Shane Steichen for 2023 season
AR on top after first week … Ranking Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson's Rookie Outlook As Preseason Begins
The AR situation is kind of weird for me... He's a Gator, so I want him to do well, obviously. But... if he becomes a super-star in the NFL, it's going to pain me so much, knowing how much we missed out on while he was here.
Colts make curious decision to not play rookie QB Anthony Richardson in Week 2 preseason matchup vs. Bears “In Indy's second preseason matchup vs. the Chicago Beats, the No. 4 overall pick did not play a single snap.”
