Face it Die, CBN (narrowly) won a hard earned reprieve for a 4th year. Cut it about as close as any UF HBC in recent memory. The hole UF dug under him in 2.5 seasons was deep. The last 1/2 of year 3 saved him. Much work to be done. Being in the SEC and playing that schedule again will be daunting. I hope the glass half full crowd (including me) are correct that next year will see further progress. We shall see. I do like the roster at this point, better than any other under Napier. Hopefully that translates to success.
Warner will not be throwing the passes. If we're having to play the top three teams on their schedule with a back up, we are probably gonna lose anyway. What we need is a back up that can beat the lesser teams on our schedule.
This OC decision was pretty fully discussed about 2-3 weeks ago (for some reason) in Awesome Recruiting. 8 wins may be required next season . . .
Lets hope we don't hear any nonsense about "Billy tried to hire 'so and so' and couldn't" like we did last year with Weis JR
8 wins is pretty much the floor at UF. It just took a while to get there. 8 wins will keep his job but nobody's going to be very happy
" Yep...and if he chooses to go this foolish route he deserves that heat. He has an unlimited budget for staff it seems and he uses it on everyone but the person he needs (the OC). No way win a national championship or even the SEC championship without getting rid of the caveman turtle ball. Its boring, antiquated and is a dead end for the needed amount of improvement.
“If the goal is to win a national title, Ohio State provided the blueprint for what has to be done in the modern era.” Hire an elite DC. Hire an elite OC. Ohio State did what Florida Football wasn't willing to do and won a national title
Theres always the recruit in the top three every year strategy that may have been the most important part of consistently being in the playoffs every year.
Silly huh, unlike your stuff hey . They’ve had really good rosters. It wasn’t until Day stepped aside and hired a really good proven OC that they win a NC. Not a coincidence.
They don't even have to be young. Ryan Day hired Chip Kelly as his OC 12 months ago and is walking around with a National Championship trophy today. Getting someone who's done it successfully before is not a hard concept.
How do you explain the other teams with good OCs that didn't win a NC? Boiling this down to OC=NC ignores approximately a gazillion other relevant factors.
