Been to App St. ballyard several times. Nice stadium in a beautiful setting.The fans really support the team.
They also knocked off South Carolina when Lumpy was the Gamecocks' coach and they were still FCS. He made every FCS game he ever coached a struggle for survival, even in the 2012 season when he went 11-2, and it bit him more than once, as we know too well.
So as you can see, you should make the trip to Boone for a big game. (They host ACC schools regularly and get 40k for those types of games) Yes It's cold. But the view, atmosphere, downtown, restaurants, bars, coffee etc will sell you. You will thank me.
Beautiful area. I remember when App State played in the SoCon and had some great teams along with GA Southern and Furman.. Makes me feel old.
Boone North Carolina... I've been there... Liked Sugar Mountain... where I learned to ski. Skied their one black diamond course on my first day. I spent all my time on the mountain and did get to go too much of the other night-life there... stayed in a house on the side of the ski course. I will return one day.

He’s not necessarily a bad pick but he had a great QB at South Carolina this year which made him look very good,..without the great QB at App State next year we’ll all get to see if he’s a good pick or not.
I went to a Miami @ App State game with my late friend Fontaine who had ALS at the time. I was running around trying to get signatures on his helmet while wearing a Florida shirt. Mark Richt told me no, because, I was wearing the wrong orange. I pointed to my buddy in his chair and Mark changed his tune and went and spoke to him and prayed with him. Later everyone lined up on both sides of a sidewalk to get more signatures. At this point I'm getting ALL of the hate from the UM fans calling me names and insinuating that I was a memorabilia scammer. That's when my bro pulled up in his chair and everyone realized the situation. When I tell you that several hundred hearts melted on the spot, I mean it. The tune changed completely and I even got some Miami fans to take pics of him with some players and text it to me as my phone was dead. My favorite part of boone was the cutoff overalls as stated above.
