Yep. Trump had his attorneys fight it, because it was the right thing to do and he has money to burn. But in the end, it's neither here nor there and he knew that. It was still the correct move to challenge it. Always stand up for yourself.
I suspect the outcome of this decision would have been different if Merchan hadn't all but guaranteed Trump won't receive any material penalty in his sentencing. Still very much the correct move for Trump to push this to the SCOTUS, but in the end, nothing material is going to change with this decision.
There is only one thing that this does change. This was the last step for Trump to legally become a convicted Felony. Apparently you have to be sentenced for it to be official. See the tweet from NBC News' Justice and Intelligence Correspondent:
A historical footnote as he will go down as the first potus to be a convicted felon. Probably not the last. That said, a fart in a whirlwind.
Cementing his ranking as one the three worst presidents in American history along with James Buchanan who set the stage for the Civil War and Andrew Johnson who tried to nullify the outcome of the war.
To be followed by the release of the Hunter Biden report......Could get interesting, talking about obstruction of justice.
Because if the Biden DoJ told Smith not to write it, it could be seen as a truce offer to Trump and Republican on lawfare. If we want the country to move on from continuous lawfare between the two parties, there needs to be a truce and both sides need to lay down their arms. Some Republicans will see the Biden DoJ releasing the report, along with Merchant insisting on sentencing Trump, are seen as signs that Democrats are not interested in a truce and an invitation for Republicans to retaliate once they assume power.
Screw hiding it or burying it. How about some transparency and let us decide what we think of what it says? Again, what are they afraid of? We are citizens, not subjects.
It appears that there is a Hunter Biden report forthcoming. Special Counsel Weiss expected to release Hunter Biden report as soon as next week
How do Donald’s boots taste? Curious. I bet you’d sing the opposite tune if it was Hunter. Personally? I say air it all. You shouldn’t be immune from consequences because you hold power.
I have no problem in airing it all- almost all of us on the right knew going in Trump had warts- however, we also knew that all these different court cases were a scam to try and get him off the ballot by democrat prosecutors and judges. It did not work and Trump got elected. So again, who besides you libs and the lib media cares.
Yes I mentioned that but was accused of being off topic....I'm used to it though seems around here unless you are bashing republicans you are always off topic.
A few points: - First of all, that assumes that it is lawfare ... an unfair attack by the Democrats against Trump. Maybe it's simply investigating what appear to be clear cases of criminal activity. - Maybe Trump did nothing wrong and the report will show that. - But your main point seems to be "do something we want ... otherwise we'll think badly of you." Hardcore Trump supporters will do that anyway and the facts won't make any difference. Follow the law, be transparent if the whiners want to whine, let them. They'd do it anyway.
