My post had nothing to do with "todays douchbags." I'm addressing a poster who appears intent upon revising history with nothing in the way of evidence
I do feel like we get partial credit with Obama for electing a Muslim, not actually one of course, but just the name alone is like C- effort on our part
Ha. The fact that many on the right thought the worst thing they could say about Obama was to accuse him of being a secret Muslim was pretty telling.
America is a country comprised of people who aren’t antisemitic and people who may be but fear giving voice to it.
Why is there a discussion about who had/has it worse? Both antisemitism and anti-muslim movements are both terrible. After 9/11 there was a surge in incidents of harassment and hate crimes Asians, Middle Easterners and anyone that had a certain look. Sikhs had it pretty bad including being killed because they are often mistaken for Muslims. Mosques were vandalized and damaged I'm sure there's an increase in crimes against the Jewish community since the latest incident.
America is so not anti-semitic. Hell, most Christians nearly worship the modern nation of Israel, and without Biblical warrant.
What a disgusting human. And a former high level national security advisor and State Department employee
that’s awful. I’m going to see the stones in Philly in June. Gonna make a point of hitting this place before hand. I want to try this hummus.
When you filter out criticisms of Israel’s government, you’re left with approximately as many antisemites as there are Americans with hippos as pets.
He speaks about how important debate is and how it’s needed to move forward. How hot topics shut it down. I agree. That’s why I think putting someone on ignore is shutting down debate. People here have done that so they don’t have put up with opposing views.
more specifically he talks about how declaring those you disagree with as anti-semites shuts down the debate. Whether it’s true or not, it does nothing to move the conversation forward. I sort of apply the same rule on this board. I only block/ignore those that I deem to be trolling and/or not interested in real honest debate.
Opposing views is one thing, people who post just for the sake of being an obnoxious contrarian is something else. I say that, being someone who has contrarian tendencies and dont mind debating points. However, my wife considers it all a waste of time and she is probably correct in most instances. Rarely does anyone change their mind thru social medica debates and often they simply harden their position.
