I am just shocked at the amount of antisemitism I am seeing across the country, especially on college campuses in the last several weeks. I never thought I would see it in the US. I remember reading this about Eisenhower when I was in school. Eisenhower’s Foresight: Protecting the Truth of the Holocaust - United States Holocaust Memorial Museum It is hard to imagine people denying that took place during WW2 and to see people try to deny what happened in Israel 3 weeks ago. It is just incomprehensible.
I don't think that was Okla's pt. He said he is shocked by the amount & esp on college campuses. He's certainly not alone. That makes sense to me. I would be more shocked, but I have spent my life on college campuses & around ultra-lefties. IMO, those who are obsessed with "out lefting" each other only see things statically with no regard as to how things got the way they are. Further, rich = oppressors, poor = oppressed. skin color tends to factor in too. Lastly, those who get their asses kicked = oppressed, regardless. It is amazing how simple otherwise smart people can be.
It’s always been around. American support for the Nazi party is alone astounding and well documented. I didn’t begin to appreciate the extent of the hate until later in life and just don’t recall it being talked about when and where I grew up. The Holocaust Museum was very powerful for me personally. Kanye’s rants and the reactions to them were more recently eye opening for me. I am not sure what percentage of people saying they support the Palestinian people and just disagree with the Israeli government are actually anti-Semites hiding behind that reasoning, but it’s definitely not zero. Most people today that hate are smart enough to at least have a cover story. That makes folks understandably very suspicious of everyone’s motives.
I don’t disagree with any of that but that wasn’t really the tenor of OKs post. I am just shocked at the amount of antisemitism I am seeing across the country, especially on college campuses in the last several weeks. I never thought I would see it in the US. It is hard to imagine people denying that took place during WW2 and to see people try to deny what happened in Israel 3 weeks ago. It is just incomprehensible
I am not a gun person, so please do not ask "what kind" because I have no clue. However, Synagogues and Chabad's across the country are increasing armed security presence and near my mother-in-law's house in Hollywood, FL there are guys patrolling the gates of the nearby Chabad with automatic (illegal?) or semiautomatic weapons that sure look like what Google suggests are UZI's. While I am Catholic, my wife is Jewish so we are keeping close watch on these recent events.
Yeah. Same shit. Was something supposed to change by you quoting the post verbatim???? Let me help you out here-- the same ppl who preach unending shit about accepting everybody--gays, blacks, trannys, whathaveyou--have thrown in with some of the most hate filled MFrs on the planet, against the perpetually persecuted Jews. It's ironic more than shocking, to so many of us have long seen through the facade, and known the abject hatred of the Left, veiled as kumbaya 'love", but never anything more than a political cudgel used to pound hate.
I purposely avoided "left vs right" examples in my original post. Sure there has been antisemitism from both sides, but nothing to the level we are seeing now.
The post indicated he was shocked at the level of anti semitism. I am puzzled because it has been out there, most obviously on the right, and he didn’t seem to notice. Now that it’s obvious on the left too he is shocked to see it. Makes me wonder where he is getting his news. I wasn’t trying to dogpile on OK but some of you sensitive safe space seeking posters were clearly triggered by my micro aggression.
Uzis are pretty uncommon in the US (they haven’t been importable in forever and weren’t that widely imported even when it was legal, so most of the ones you see now are parts kits builds made from old cut-up guns by random small companies that you’ve never heard of). It’s probably a semi-auto version of some other SMG-style 9mm carbine (a Scorpion, H&K/clone, or B&T maybe), which aren’t super uncommon choices for armed security.
We’ve had literal Nazis parade themselves around all over the place the last few years. Yet people are now ‘shocked’? lol
I think what he’s saying is that a lot of people didn’t realize there’s serious anti-Semitism in the US that goes beyond neo-Nazis, the Nation of Islam, and crazies like Kanye. That’s what people’s eyes are being opened to, they’re not saying “oh I had no idea neo-Nazis existed.”
