Anthony Richardson should be the #1 pick in the NFL draft...

I think they missed that guy on the OL more.

AR caused the outside edge to be in massive contain + a spy. That is a huge run game advantage. A lot of the success of the backs should be attributable to ARs influence on the run game

Basically with Mertz or Miller we should expect our run game to be significantly worse even with an equal OL and RB. They need to make it up by being much better passers

That guy on the OL missed the LSU game and with AR we still managed to score 35 points.

For all the "potential", I just think of the goal line pick vs awful usf, the picks vs UK, the swing pass to M Johnson for a 100% sure TD vs fsu, and a few others. I wanted him to succeed so badly, but like the "Day Tripper" girl whose just a tease, he took us all "half the way there".

I’m a big AR fan too, he’s our guy. Would I draft him with a top ten pick, he’ll no but I don’t own a franchise for some reason.

I'd really like him to go either to Atlanta or Carolina for selfish reasons, I live in South Carolina and we get good coverage of those teams.

I'm happy for Richardson. The NFL and the NBA have consistently shown they are willing to bet on the come. I liken Anthony Richardson to former gator Scottie Lewis, both generational athletes who were so incredibly gifted that they never had to bother with the nuances of the game. Just my opinion.

Ok- that is an interesting comparison.
After googling I found out Lewis spent time in the G league, though he did play 2 games with the Hornets last year.
This year he broke his leg during summer 22. No idea if he still gets paid or not.

I guess AR will do better than this- though I would add that like Scottie, he needs more time in the minor leagues.
Which for the NFL is college, which is why i thought he should have come back.

But that ship has sailed. We'll see if I was right...

He definitely needs more development and he may or may not get there. For development, his best place is in college but he has no choice when they are going to pick him too 10. He would be a fool to come back and take the chance of having a similar season. It would cost him millions. I’d say his odds are 50/50 at best to develop into a good nfl qb. Why chance it?

    Well as I've answered before,
    1) The big money is in the 2nd contract. Huge money. The best way to get to the 2nd contract is to be ready when you get to the NFL because once a QB gets there, production is expected. Most teams don't give time to develop. (Some do, but teams that draft high tend to be dysfunctional so don't.)
    2) NFL money for a rookie contract is still large, but if a guy is a little immature, has many hangers-ons etc that money can be gone quickly. The NFL bankruptcy rate is large. So it's clear to me that the #1 thing is to get to the 2nd contract and be successful once you are there.

Since this has been a major topic on this board, I did some research on current successful NFL QBs and if they stayed 3 or 4 years.
It is amazing how many successful QBs stayed at college past 3 years. Per the NFL these were the top 11 QBs this past season.
    Mahomes
    Hurts-4
    Burrow-4
    Josh Allen-4
    Herbert-4

    Trevor Lawrence
    Tua
    Jared Goff-3
    Geno Smith4
    Dak Prescot
    t-4
    Tom brady-4

I would argue that Mahomes, TL and Tua were all prodigies.
While I didn't see Mahomes in college, any idiot could see TL and Tua were far advanced from normal. Based on his play, I assume Mahomes was as well but I didn't watch the big 12.

So my contention has that if a guy is not a prodigy, he should stay a 4th year.
It's funny how right I was...
Look at all the 4+ year guys!

Of the non-prodigies only Goff went pro after 3 years. So just 1 out of 8.
So the success rate of the 3 year non-prodigy guys is not good- it looks like.
WOW- what a huge argument for staying.

So is AR a prodigy? LOL. Uh.. no.
So I'll flip it on you. He made the wrong move to leave- foolish even.

But maybe it will work out.
I know he will kill the combine and probably will be taken really high.

Pretty much what I said but I’d have to take the secured rookie contract knowing it lessens my chance of generational money. Bird in hand to me, we just say what happens to greedy people.

If AR can stay healthy, he could develop into being a Lamar Jackson. Coming out of college Lamar wasn’t a fantastic passer either. But his escapability was out of this world. AR has shown the same athleticism, except he’s even bigger. I’m hoping he somehow stays healthy and develops his passing game. His ceiling is so high.

In other words Richardson is able to beat pressure and prevent being sacked at a really high rate.
