People are questioning his character. It’s fine to say he’s not good enough to be a top 5 pick. It’s out of bounds to say he didn’t give his all

Again, how much of his “all” did he give in the bowl game when Oregon State was embarrassing our team, his team? I get that you don’t want his commitment minimized. That’s fine. Let’s not go exaggerating it either.

30-40th is not good enough for us. I agree. It’s solid for a D1 QB but nowhere near what we need to win a title. I’m not defending his play except against people that think he was terrible

I just don’t believe in personal attacks against Gators. So I’ll defend AR or any Gator from attacks that they didn’t try hard, didn’t care, etc.

I personally don’t care about those bowl games but even if I give you every opt out = quitter…. then what would you say about the rest of the 6-6 season?

He’s a good kid and very talented but you won’t get a winning record often in the sec with a qb ranked liked that. We all know he’s physically gifted but he’s not a very good qb at this point. It’s not crazy to question if it’s a good idea to draft him as high as he’s projected. I wish him the best but I thinks it’s crazy. No I’ll will, I just don’t see it.

Yeah both players played the same position at UF - under 2 vastly different situations. One had an embarrassment of riches surrounding him, from future NFL players at WR and TE to an elite offensive line to a nasty, legendary defense and one of the greatest college coaches ever. The other had...well, we all saw what the 2022 Gators had outside of their QB.

And one won the heisman and tge other lost to Vandy. There’s no comparison.

Let's be honest, Trask's main reason for "showing up" to the bowl game was to improve his draft stock. His QB draft class was very deep and he knew he had to jockey for draft position, so he had no choice but to get out there for one more game and try to impress scouts. If Trask had gotten a first round draft grade, he would've been chilling on the sideline with a clipboard and visor watching his team get destroyed in that bowl game and fans would've been completely understanding.

Winning the Heisman is an individual accomplishment, losing to Vandy is a team effort. Hasn't the general consensus in this thread been that team success takes precedence over individual accolades?

I don’t buy it. He played without his receivers and didn’t help anything.

Being there for your team because you want to yes. Tebow won his heisman on a not so good team also..

He had no choice but to play, he had to jockey for draft position in a class where Lawrence, Fields, Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance etc were getting all the buzz. I'm sure he wanted to be out there with his teammates for one last hurrah and all that other feel-good stuff, but under a different draft projection scenario there's zero chance he would've played in that bowl game.

Anthony Richardson would probably win a Heisman in Urban Meyer's QB-friendly system too.

Thank you!! Situations often dictate who you are and what you have around you is a major factor as to what you can and can’t do. Compare this offensive philosophy to the previous and it’s night and day and not in a good way.

Can’t imagine him in Spurrier, Meyer, or Kiffin’s offense.

Spurrier definitely no, Kiffin probably not. But I could see Meyer salivating at the opportunity to use a QB with his skillset in customized packages.

With another year or two of experience, possibly. Like he was last year, absolutely no way in hell. Tebow did win his as a true sophomore.

If you think, we don’t beat Vanderbilt and Kentucky last year with Tebow as a quarterback, even as a sophomore, you are completely delusional

No, sorry. Trask did not have to play in that bowl game to "further impress" scouts. He had already done everything he could imo.
