Those suggesting that Title IX was bad are, in essence, suggesting we just throw all that in the trash. I honestly don't get that mindset. It's something we should be proud of and brag on, not lament.

 

People would rather blame faceless 20-year-old women for whatever is wrong rather than the politicians they elect who cut their taxes by underfunding education.

That would sicken me. Not for the amount but for the 7th ranked QB. If the NIL is going to pay that much it had better be a program changing QB that we have for the next 3 years.

 

True, there was a Kicker from UCF 5 or 6 years ago (think he was even a walk on) that had a Youtube channel giving kicking tips and was making money on it, NCAA came down on him and the school. That's crap.

 

It really is. The whole thing is a farce and instead of just accepting what will inevitably happen, the NCAA is still fighting the "good fight."

There are only two paths:
1. NFL creates a dev league and drafts kids out of high school. The ones that don't want to go to college go there. The ones not drafted or that actually want to go to college do so. This is the least likely to happen. NIL doesn't hurt the NFL one bit at the moment.

2. FBS drops ~ 100 programs that shouldn't be in the top tier of college football and members agree on a base salary + tuition/scholarship. These teams get a draft. As part of this every member institution creates an Athletics program that focuses on the world of sports / entertainment / reporting / coaching / health + safety so these people have viable careers in the world they want to be in.

In either scenario there's no longer an incentive to spend $10M+ on a recruit. It fixes the problem. It also ensures that players get a cut of the enormous amount of profit that is out there.

NCAA still thinks they can have their cake and eat it too, despite the fact that there's icing all over the walls and the cake is on the floor. The moment NIL was announced any idiot could see what was coming and should have started planning that day because it was inevitably going to be a catastrophe if left unaddressed.

The schools need to wake up. Like yesterday. The game is going to collapse otherwise.

 

Same. I’ll flip on close games at the end too, if I’m already at or near my tv. But overall, I think I only watch a bit less tv now than I did 15-20 years ago, but I watch a lot less college football now than I did back then.

 

Graham Mertz Highlights looks good to me. And I’m confident we can still play Vandy just as well as we did with AR. No concerns from me here.
