I think the takeaway is to consider this when people argue that women were "into it" when in similar situations, at least in the sense that they didn't perceive themselves as victims necessarily and thought they were getting something out of the relationship. The whole idea is that there is a bit of manipulation and abuse on the part of the person who should know better.

While obviously improper given the student relationship, at 17 there is age of consent. I had now deceased relatives where the man was 30 and woman was 15 when married. There should be some action accountability and punishment, but I tend to have more sympathy towards this than the law does. 16 is different than 13, which is different than 10.

 

Maybe just me but looking back at this age I can only think of one teacher that was remotely attractive. Whenever I read these stories, I always feel sympathy for the spouse. Assuming he has no culpability, maybe he will get some sympathy attention from one of the locals, tho not likely.

I don’t know how being with a full grown adult woman at 16 would have affected me though. Might have been weird.
