First back to back ROAD wins against top 25 teams in Florida Basketball history! Severely shorthanded at that against the bulldogs. Hope Alex is ok and we get healthy soon. Go Gators!
Me too. Hoping it’s something it doesn’t seem like. Would suck to lose him. We are a different team without his presence.
Very cool And we offically went 3-1 for that brutal 4-game stretch - beyond impressive, especially down starters in every game
Posted in the game thread but adding this here too: Coach said in the post-game that xrays came back clean and it appears to be a low ankle sprain
As a fan and a devoted Gator, I am already steeling myself for the probable disappointing end to this season. It's simple math. The probability we will be happy after the last game this team plays is slim. I really try to hold on, in the moment, to things that inspire my affection and appreciation just for who the team is, and how they represent my alma mater. We have been discussing many great players, and teams on other threads recently. That enjoyment should not be tempered by a lack of an ultimate trophy. Enjoy the moments in real time. Aggregated appreciation counts as much as ultimate victory, if not more.
Losing in the NCAAT is by far the most likely outcome for EVERY team. I hate losing any game, but after the initial sting of a loss, I get over it and get back to having enjoyed the process (and the many wins).
As long as they don't lose the first game of the tourney as a one or two seed that would be a tough loss to get over.
I have a difficult time getting over losing early in the tourney to an inferior team and/or poor officiating. It happens in the tourney and not just to us. This year could be different as we have been tough to beat, are very competive, often dominant, and if on our game, a tough matchup; also, our bench strength is building up, vital in the tourney. It’s been a memorable season thus far.
I am sure that, at this point in the season/conference, Coach Golden will manage our players, and their development, with the NCAAT uppermost in mind. The prudence with which Alijah has been handled is a good example. It says a lot about the staff's mindset that evident concern for player's health can combine with allowing others to grow in their ability to contribute down the stretch. As competitive as Coach Golden seems to be, he shows strategic vision in his decisions as well.
I watched some YouTuber yesterday list his seven teams in order that realistically can win the national championship. Gators were #4. Others in order were AU, Bammer, Houston, Duke, UT, and St. Johns.
No Vols ever. There's one SEC school with a Natty in FB, Baseball and basketball...and I do not want to share that with any one else.
