So the only meaningful suggestion came from big cypress and that suggestion would take at best decades of waiting and even then no real promise of results.
Everyone else just wants to scream and point fingers. That’s the problem. This has become more about one side winning (as evidenced by responses to the the Colorado shooter identifying as non binary) than it is about actually accomplishing something.
Start cracking down on big pharm pushing drugs on kids
Crack down on anyone and everyone carrying an unlicensed firearm of any kind
Use red flag laws (Florida proves they work)
Crack down on any parent friend etc who provides a gun to someone that should not have one.

Why is my suggestion above not meaningful? It would end most of the violence.

How about we enforce the 2nd as written. That whole Well regulated militia thingy that seems to have been dismissed

I disagree. Most of the violence occurs not with AR style guns but 9mm. Your suggestions is at best a small band aid. And it would take forever. And it is basically gun confiscation. Which will never fly. You focus on one small area, an area that gets the most emotion and outrage but that accounts for very little of gun violence.

    Who are "they"? The supremes?

We have a court full of textualists. Seems like they need to revisit the decision and enforce the constitution as written

Worked ok and pretty quickly foe Australia but I agree gun confiscation/rationing wouldn’t work well here.

My reasonable suggestion? Ammo control . Like the Israeli model. Everyone gets 25 or so rounds a year. 9 for your Glock and the rest for what ever you use to murder wildlife.
If you are a dedicated k-blamist visits a gun range but you don’t get to keep it. Everyone is happy…

That is reasonable to you because you are not a gun enthusiast. Millions upon millions of law abiding Americans are. Many shoot on their own property. Many hunt varmints on their own property. And 25 rounds wouldn’t come close. That May sight in a hunting rifle each season but that’s about it.

The most sensible plan of them all would be to enforce the gun laws already on the books. That would make a bigger dent than a buyback for assault weapons, for example.

I don’t disagree. But it won’t be enough for some on the left. I’m willing to compromise. Sadly, some will not see anything but ban certain guns and make it impossible to own them.

It would take decades but doing nothing is worse. What do you think we should do or are you just pointing fingers too?

We’re not doing nothing though. Biden just passed “major gun legislation”, right?? You’re just going to have to accept that some humans do terrible things unfortunately and government can’t be the solve all. Our country isn’t perfect, but overall, it’s the best there is. But again, you can’t say we’re doing nothing when Biden was just out there a few months ago touting his new gun legislation passage.

This pretty much defies all evidence to the contrary from state to state and across the country. But fine create your own fake narrative to rationalize the carnage.

Perhaps it is the best country there is in some respects but it isn’t anywhere near the first in the world in living a long healthy life.

When I wrote that I was assuming big cypress was referring to a buyback plan for all guns and the banning of all guns sales. Buyback program data is anecdotal at best, because as cypress noted, it would take decades to measure true effectiveness. But either way, buybacks haven’t stopped the gun violence yet and never will.

I could definitely see myself living in Spain acclimation is tougher when you are older but Mediterranean Spain rocks from a quality of life perspective. I lived in Perth, AUS as a pre teen haven’t been back but that seems diable. New Zealand as well.

These countries don’t want too many American refugees showing up though so better to get while the going is good

This is the standard argument. Any one particular action by itself won’t eliminate the problem, thus we can do nothing other than wish T&P.

Countries that have higher gun regulations have lower gun deaths and murders, and for the most part startes that have higher gun regulation have lower gun violence than those with few regulations.
