    OL Kiyaunta Goodwin returns home:

Florida OL Kiyaunta Goodwin no longer with program due to family hardship (247sports.com)

This is one we wanted to work out, but the loss opens a slot for someone else in the 24 class. UF has 16 ship OL on the roster according to the article. However, Kamryn Waites is going to miss most if not all of 2023 due to his Achilles heel injury sustained last January. Still, 15 is a good number as the staff will likely concentrate on getting 7-8 OL ready for play each week.

Family absolutely comes first, but unless he's a doctor or his mom doesn't have anyone else then I don't understand this decision. This is doubly true if he plans to enroll somewhere else for football

He's going to watch TV with her to make her feel better? I'm not unsympathetic, but a lot of people's moms have cancer.

Unless her prognosis is poor and he wants to be near to her at the end of her life. Or is needed to help with siblings or other things that he feels he needs to handle.

I’m a cancer survivor. His Mom very well may need emotional support as well as physical support. Someone to drive her to chemo and radiation treatments, someone to help around the house, cook, clean, etc..
Having someone there when she gets scared, lonely, or is in pain.
I absolutely will not judge the young man for making such a decision. I hate that he had to make it at all.
I hate cancer with every fiber of my being. Hate what it does to those it attacks, hate what it does to families, friends and futures.
I’ll keep both him and his mom in my prayers.

I'm going out on a limb with my saw to say Waites won't play in the 23 regular season:

Billy Napier addresses status of several UF players returning from injury (247sports.com)

"Kamryn Waites, a 6-foot-8, 364-pound redshirt sophomore offensive lineman, is ahead of schedule in his return from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in early January, said Napier, and the Gators may get Waites back in practice before the conclusion of the regular season".

Getting back into playing shape by the end of the regular season is a stretch. Presuming UF earns a bowl bid, he might participate in the 15 post season practices and play in a bowl game.

If I'm HC, he takes a redshirt and gets back in gear for post season conditioning and spring practice. I wouldn't risk his NFL future with another injury due to bringing him back too soon.

What’s the big deal with Waites?

He looked like trash in the bowl game.

I was thinking just somebody to hold her hand but you gave a much better answer. When I was a kid my dad put a Vince Lombardi quote poster up in my room. It said winning wasn’t everything it’s the only thing. Vince was wrong.

All of our players looked like trash in the bowl game, not just Waites.

Anthony Richardson looked inept in the short passing game to me for most of the season. He was drafted high based on future potential as an NFL QB.

Saying Waites looked like trash in the bowl game is a bit harsh and doesn't reflect his future potential.
