Adding that it's obviously speculation since the story was unclear (probably intentionally since the source was Fox News), perhaps the state decided to revoke his license based on negligent discharge of a firearm. While he had every right to defend himself and his family using deadly force there was the real possibility that bystanders could have been hit when he fired at the robbers. Bullets do not magically stop when they reach a property line. They can travel hundreds of yards. If he was outdoors the bullets could have traveled a significant distance beyond his property line. Not beyond the realm of possibility that a neighbor living a distance away could have been hit by an errant shot. While he could have successfully invoked self-defense had he hit one of the robbers would the same have applied if he happen to hit a neighbor?

As someone who has worked for the government that’s not how it works.

First of all, I'm not saying that the LAPD decision to revoke his permit was a good call or a bad call. Just pointing out that OP is not exactly honest.
Second, come on ... You really think that if the police 'had been doing their jobs' that there would be no crime?

Was the decision made by the State or LAPD? I think the police chief is appointed by the Mayor and doesn't report to the Governor?

Really? Because seems to think so. All the liberals here believe so too. Do you want to know how I know this?

I read their posts attacking Desantis.

Now, if you are suggesting they are all hypocrites then I can see your point.

CCL is issued by the State, under State guidelines.

I doubt that “all liberals” here share the same view on the topic. I’m also not speaking for liberals, I’m speaking for myself and it’s not my responsibility to defend other people’s stated views.

If you are saying it “because they said it about Desantis” that is not a very good argument, nor is it a mature response.

It's a little confusing to me, and it appears there were changes in the laws after the Court's ruling in Bruen, so I'm not sure if the sites I'm pulling up are current and I haven't read the statutes. According to this site at least, the California DOJ handles background checks in the application process, but the licenses are actually issued by the county sheriff’s office or local police station. Even if that's true in terms of initial issuance, I'm not sure that tells us anything about the revocation process and the extent to which sheriffs and police departments might have a role in that.

    https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/resources/ccw_reciprocity_map/ca-gun-laws/

California is now a shall-issue state since the Supreme Court’s ruling on the NYSRPA v Bruen on June 23rd, 2022. Licenses are issued by the county sheriff’s office or local police station.

Any resident of this state who has not previously reported ownership of a firearm or anyone moving into California with a firearm is considered a “personal firearm importer” and must provide a report to the DOJ regarding their firearm or sell or transfer the firearm through a licensed dealer or to a sheriff or police department. The California Department of Justice (DOJ) runs a background check and retains information about the purchaser and seller of all in-state firearms sales and transfers.

Speaking of DeSantis, he happens to have a rubber stamp legislature with a super majority. Whatever Ron wants Ron gets and he also doesn't respect the will of the people; if recall he removed two duly elected States Attorneys.
State attorney says DeSantis fired her because she was ‘prosecuting their cops’
DeSantis suspends another elected prosecutor in move derided as ‘politically motivated’
DeSantis removes Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren
And let's also not forget the Meatball Ron revoked the Reedy Creek's status as special district for no other reason than because he was pissed off at Disney.

Since I may have missed it when did Newsom suspend or remove a duly elected municipal or county office?

You are correct. Its the counties that issue the permits.
Freely available in Shasta County where I live.
I don't think you can get one in San Francisco County, at least not easily.

the counties also issued drivers license, but they do so on behalf of the state. You don’t get an Orange County drivers license, you get a California drivers license. But to get one, you go to the Orange County DMV.

Gov Newshit just amended the CCL law, not the counties

Gov. Newsom signs new CCW law in California. What you should know...

Um, no you really don't. You go to a California DMV not an Orange County DMV. The county does not run the DMV. The state does. The Department of Motor Vehicles is generally a state agency (as it is in California).
