An OC starting his very first game as a coordinator...and they get almost 500 yards on offense? Why?

Mullen was never interested in righting the ship he drove the damn thing onto the rocks. He made a living at msu recruiting the jucos (think portal light) without trask and Brian J. He would have been gone a season earlier. We were always a stepping stone to nowhere for him. Terrible take

And had elite pass rushers in front of him and an intimating mlb beside him.

I agree with your position on almost everything however FSU also had several glaring holes in their roster they fixed with the portal. Most every play maker they have is from the portal. Coleman, verse, Travis, Wilson, Benson, Etc etc.

Now I'm not saying that's easy to achieve or should be the plan going forward but we added nothing on defense in Napier's first year and some pretty underwhelming acquisitions on his second. I can't speak as to why but it's a problem. We tried on offense and have done much better with the portal although Goodwins situation was a massive hit at a position of need and simply out of our control.

I can only speak for myself but as a Napier supporter, I've been surprised at the number of coaching mistakes in several of our losses. Those are the things that he can control and should be expected to improve upon the team regardless of talent. We had seemed to make strides in some areas like time out usage and end of half posessions/time management but there are still several other ongoing concerns.

I wish we had Napier in the time we had Maclwein. Prior to the transfer portal and prior to NIL. It seems like a daunting task to be a young coach to come in and fix all of the things that needed to be fixed systemically that Florida fell behind on while trying to navigate the cutthroat world of NIL, Portal, a widening talent gap between the SEC elite as well as the social media culture that constantly circle the program. Not to mention evolving his staff and coaching chops as well.

To add to that, and that fsu was ready to fire their coach two years ago. They have done quite well with the portal, but it also took several years to get the rest of those players all on the same page. He did not just plug in a half a dozen superstars into an 85 man roster that has never played together.

We don’t have talent across-the-board. We could have 10 five star quarterbacks, and we would not be any better than we are right now.

I think you have to have OL, DL, QB and HC that are above avg. The rest can be avg from time to time but all can’t be at the same time. We lost a lot of players the past two years. It is what it is. The roster is avg everywhere except RB and WR.

Yeah but lets just get to playing people at their natural positions and grow/recruit others per your observation. A lot if our starters would be better as depth we shall see moving forward

I disagree in addition to J Travis already on the roster the addition of his 2 portal receivers has been the biggest reasons for their success this year. He also developed culture and also pieces on defense but verse hasn't been as disruptive as last year. There are probably reasons for this “quiet” play but that position hasnt been a weakness.

This portal receiver upgrade has been a feature of many teams this year. As been stated repeatedly we need portal linemen and not just 1 yr solutions we need to deliver HS hits also.

No one can answer the question if just given Mullen our current roster would we sit at 5-4 and looking for 5-7.

It doesn’t matter. No one questions Mullen’s ability to call an offense. It was all the other BS that got him canned. Plus he wouldn’t have a lot of the young talent that is playing and if so they would be sitting on the beach behinds crappy upperclassmen.

That's a good one, most of the time (single barrels vary). A few others I enjoy:
    • Eli Craig 18
    • Eli Craig barrel proof (C923 is outrageous)
    • Russell's Reserve single barrel
    • Henry Mackenna 10yr bottled in bond
Last night I opened a Knobb Creek 12 for the first time. If you are ok with dry oaky bourbon, it's excellent.

It just needed some guts. The same thinking for hiring muschamp except muschamp had red flags all over him.

Sure initially fans would react negatively, hiring an assistant without head coaching experience.

We have since hired everyone with head coaching experience, Mullen even having 9 years of sec. How did that all turn out?

Saying all I said now we have no choice but to ride the billy train. We have to give him at least five years. We should fire Strickland at the end of season and bring someone who would support billy and golden. However the new ad would be making the changes if five years still don’t work out.

Even if he came, which I doubt, it would have been awesome when he jumped ship when the Georgia job came open. ;)
