Amazon plans to lay off 10K employees: report | Fox Business

The move would mark the largest job cut in Amazon's history, representing 3% of its corporate employees and 1% of its global workforce, according to the outlet.

Amazon had already warned employees in underperforming units to prepare to look for another job as the company makes cutbacks amid the uncertain economic environment, sources told the Journal.

She noted that the company had already issued hiring pauses in other divisions and decided to shut down new corporate hiring across the board.

Galetti further explained that Amazon also anticipated "keeping this pause in place for the next few months" as it continues to monitor the economy and the business and make adjustments where it makes sense.

Salesforce has also been cutting jobs. I think around 1,000. Saw an article that said 70,000 big tech jobs lost the second half of this year.

The lay offs are being announced. Inflation is fixing to be cured. Wonder who will the public blame. Amazon to lay off 10,000, silicon has layer off 20,000 people , twitter is laying off 4500 people. Buckle up we are fixing to be in for a bumpy ride. Meta has announced 11,000 to be layed off and Disney has announced layoffs coming. Wonder why they were not announced before the election

Rate hikes having their intended effect?

Tencent and Netease still trying to bang down my door. Wonder how many of these tech workers will end up in china's industries?

Wait till the people up north get their heating bill of $1,500.00 for four weeks diesel fuel if they can get it at any price. People are already paying their bills with a credit card instead of a debit card. Credit card companies will be taking big charge off before it is said and done.

Interesting and understandable although the overwhelming majority of Amazon's workers supposedly on the chopping block aren't the hourly workers who work in warehouses. Interestingly Amazon did reduce its workforce by 80,000 over the last few months through attrition.

Recession is coming. It always begins in real estate. People's equity, their assets are frozen because you can no longer leverage your home at a rate that makes sense. That goes for buying, refinancing, home equity. Corps like Amazon know the game. When credit markets begin seizing up, it's just a matter of time. Smart companies will get out in front. Look at the massacre in tech. Now Amazon. Give it a couple months. Retailers will disappoint mightily during Christmas season and the layoffs will ramp up big after the New Year. Santa gonna to leave a lump of coal in retail stockings. Recession hits hard 1st half 2023.
