Am I the only one who thinks this wasn’t random political violence?

I believe we just saw why he shouldn't be demonized to the extent he is demonized.

Trump isn't any less threat to democracy today than he was before he was shot at yesterday. I'm glad Trump lived and the assassination attempt failed. But that doesn't change the facts that Trump dehumanizes others, belittles even more, quotes Hitler, and is a danger to democracy.

Now, if Trump softens his rhetoric after the attempt on his life, I'll be the first to give him credit. But how often do sociopathic narcissists make major changes?

    So let's be consistent.

If Trump is responsible for violence because of his "dehumanizing" language, then Democrats are responsible for violence against Trump because of their "dehumanizing" language towards him.

Agreed. Would be nice if both sides turned down the rhetoric. But if Trump did that, what would he then be known for? The fiery rhetoric is his shtick.

Maybe he changes after this attempt on his life? Again, if he does, I'd be in line to praise him. But I won't hold my breathe waiting for Trump to change.

Some people are more easily influenced than others.
I think the liberal media has weight unappreciated by the majority of libbies.
    It cannot be understated.

Sure. I've heard that Trump like to have the knife thrower over from the local circus on the weekends to slice apples off of his head too.

    Good one. :)

I don't believe Trump would set this up. Similarly, I don't believe the deep state would either. Im just saying its more likely to be Trump as if someone from the deep state tried a hit on Trump it wouldnt be some random kid who cant make a shot at sub 150 yards. Its just not gonna happen. My official belief is that the Secret service and security didn't do their job.

The problem Im having with the whole thing is how anyone got that close to Trump with a gun. Especially since people saw him before he started shooting.

I don't believe there is some big conspiracy in this. As facts continue to come in I think something along this happened.

People pointed out the shooter to police.
Some police attempted to reach the shooter on the roof.
The sniper teams were alerted and turned their attention to the sniper, unfortunately not quickly enough.
The attempted assassin rushed his shot due to the police approaching up the ladder.
The sniper team opened fire and took him out.

Certainly it must be true that some people are more easily influenced than others, but this doesn’t answer my question regarding what puts you among the less easily influenced.

Interestingly, your criticism mirrors that of the Marxists who claim that people such as you and I cannot be trusted to accurately assess our own economic conditions due to the prejudice of our capitalist upbringing. If we protest, we’d be informed that, regrettably, that our perspective has been poisoned by a capitalist experience has a weight unappreciated by its denizens.

There is simply no excuse for literally dozens of attendees to be pointing out to the police the actual shooter on the roof for minutes before he was taken out.

I wouldn't give much credence to the financial angle. From what I read, he only gave $15. Hardly enough to suggest that an assassination attempt was on the way. Sounds like he was a really confused and messed-up dude with a gun fetish and a desire for revenge against the world.

Supposedly, a cop was lifted up to the roof to address the shooter, but the shooter turned his rifle on the cop and the cop jumped down, and that's when the shooter turned and shot at Trump. The police might have unnerved (or hurried) the shooter enough to affect his shot. It does not sound like the effort between the police and the Secret Service was well-coordinated, or else the Secret Service would have shot the suspect before he got off the first shot.
